My husband is has in Alaska for a year now. Now me and our two year old daughter will be joining him at the end of Aug. Which is a Big Move from Ohio. Any wives in fairbanks,alaska. Any helpful advice would be great

Hey were right outside of fairbanks. My advice is to bring or mail anything that you need immediately after getting here. It takes about a month for household goods to arrive. And to save money id wait to buy winter gear till you're here. Its cheaper and will save more room in your luggage. Be prepared the prices here are much more expensive than whatd they normally be. Also on facebook theres a couple groups that are great for meeting people and getting information about whats going on post. Theres also a playgroup once a week on post for younger children. Im not sure if hes army or airforce but when you get the chance search for ft wainwright spouses groups. Theyre adding more all the time.
