Did any one bring their living room funiture, dishes, pots pans? What is the weight requirements? Does the military provide cribs, beds for our boys? Help me I am so excited but very nervous at the same time...

Hi Rachel, we are currently living in Okinawa on Kadena Air Base. You guy's will most likely be living on base when you first get here... If I'm correct everyone new to the island must live one year on base before moving off base unless housing is 95% full. Also, they might make you guys live on another base like they did us for our first year. They put us in the tower's at Foster and we really did not like it so after our year they let us move off base and we found a nice 4 bedroom house in our price range and absolutely love it. If you guy's get the chance I recommend living off base it's awesome! Also, if you guy's are airforce I'm pretty sure we don't have any weight limit to worry about. How long did you guys get order's here for? When we got here 2 years ago we decided to come with nothing so we could start fresh. You can get temporary furniture for a few months while waiting for your TMO shipment and there is a furniture store on base.. and an amazing place off base called yellowbox furniture off base that carries Ashley's Furniture and isn't too expensive. The beaches are gorgeous here and is a great place to raise a family! It is also extremely safe. Most of the Okinawan's are really nice as well. For a car I reccomend buying at a place like BC motors because they should give you a 1 year warranty on your car and a 2 year JCI. We got our first car off of the lemon lot and payed 2 grand for it.. it was cheap but than we had to come out of pocket for a very expensive JCI not even a couple months later.. I hope this helps you! Feel free to add me on facebook. I can hook you up with some mom groups here. www.facebook.com/lhedden1
