My fiance wants to join the National Guard. Can I handle this?

I am a mother of an eight month old son and my fiance and I are living with his parents right now. He has a decent paying job, but has always wanted to join the guard. I'm a stay at home mom and he thinks the money and experience from the guard will let us buy a house quicker. I've always been against him joining because I have an anxiety disorder and don't think I can handle him being away. I also don't want to stand in the way of something he REALLY wants to do in his life. Have any of you felt this way? How did you get over it? What were your experiences with being alone while hubby was away?

I would move out of his parents house. I have GAD, which basically means everything is a trigger for my anxiety. Any kind of stress or unknown or worry. I'm just afraid that I couldn't handle not having him every night to talk to. I know I'd have friends and family to talk to, but I'm afraid I'd sit in my house alone and cry every day

Would you still be living with his parents? What are your triggers for anxiety?

I find that having a husband who is away a lot, you need a lot of support from friends and family. It is definitely a challenge to keep your marriage going and to maintain the bond between daddy and the kids. But you would definitely not be the first or last mom to do it.
