I was stationed in Wiesbaden Germany and my hubby(at time bf/fiance) was stationed in Giebelstadt Germany. Everyone I knew that were married had their spouses and children there with them. Our problem was after I chaptered out for pregnancy was keeping me in country(since I didnt technically get permission to stay), that and trying to get son's passport(he was born in Germany) since hubby was in Iraq 4 days after he was born. :( Go to JAG office and find out what all paper work you need to fill out. It was quite a bit for us to get married, there will be pages of sign here initial here

I've been in Germany for the last 3 years and this was our first base after my hubby finish tech school. I don't know that there was ever a question about us not going, though there is a lot of paper work to fill out. Who said you couldn't go? You and your kiddo will need medical and dental forms filled out and a no-fee gov passport (which basically is your visa for living abroad for more than 3 months which is all you can do on a tourist passport). IF you move over here, it will be recomended that you purchase tourist passports for any traveling outside of Germany that you want to do. Is your hubby your kids step-dad? My best advice is go to the legal office on your current base to find the in and outs of taking your kids if you have shared custody. I hope you get everything figured out, I know how stressful it is to only have questions and no answers.

You're welcome! Believe me I understand your stress. As I said, we are trying to get to Korea with my hubby. He wants us to go, so it makes me want to go even more. The plus is, the duty station he is assigned to over there is so family oriented! Just a suggestion, and of course your hubby would have to have to agree, to allow you to go to the reassignment appt. (if that's where he's going Mon.)? They (the reassignment clerk) actually welcomes the spouse, being that it is an overseas tour. They CLEARLY discuss whether or not he is allowed to request you to go, and how long the tour would be if you do or dont go. But maybe he has orders already, I'm not sure. I think my pet peeve is when my friend answers my serious questions with opinionated answers lol. That is why I made it a point to find out who can give me real answers. So ACS is a great source, and if you find out your hubby can request you to go, hit up militaryonesource.com! You can start a relocation calendar and all types of stuff. B.T.W here's the website for gov. passports, plz note you can start the process online but it has to be filed and completed by someone in soldier support (not sure what it's called where u are, but where everything else is being done). HTTPS://pptform.state.gov. I really hope you guys can go with your hubby!

YOU have helped me out so much and have really helped me to not really worry about it so much. I would hate to be away from him again.. :) YOu have made my night thank:)))))))

When he goes to his reassignment appointment, they will give him orders and let him know if he can request command sponsorship (its the same as Korea, he has to request for you all to go with him). Unless his orders say that it is an unaccompanied tour, or no dependent request permitted, you all should be able to request it. However, it could be denied, (not sure how likely because Ive never been oversea. In fact we are awaiting the window to request CS for Korea). If you're allowed to request Command Sponsorship, you would get a NO FEE Gov Passport!! Very different from the ones you pay for, so save your money. this one allows you to stay in the country for the duration of your tour. The tourist passports expire a lot sooner! I went to the overseas brief, it is VERY informative. I would suggest you go if you can. Also ACS should have a relocation specialist, who will give you all the info you need/want! Im not sure about Germany but as for Korea, we cant request Command Sponsorship, before 6 months prior to the report date and it could take longer for an answer. My friend just went over to Germany (not sure where) but I do know her hubby went a few months before her. They love it, its their 2nd time over there!
