Thanks Girls.. I actually moved back to Ohio was in Colorado when I posted this.. My husband is actually getting out of the Army January 2012 I sure am gonna miss it :(

@Tiffany- we spent our first 4 years in the army in Vilseck, and although it is a little bit in the middle of nowhere (as of 2000 when we left), the trains system was great and you are so close to Nurnberg and also the Chech Republic, We loved it there :)

Other than that we have been to Ft Leonard Wood, which truely IS the middle of nowhere, Ft Rucker in Alabama, which we liked and are now at Ft Hood, which we also like. I agree that the place is what you make it though :)

My husband and I got married back in 2005 and he was stationed at Fort drum..... the winters are cold, i personally didn't like it there but we also dind't have kids so interms of kid stuff to do... don't know.

We were at Schofield Barracks , Hawaii from November 2005- February 2010. Hawaii is one of those places where you are gonna love it or hate it. The weather is beautiful, it was nice having the weather of 75+ all year round but it is expensive to live there and its not cheap to fly home to see family and friends. That was a big negative for me since i am very close with my family.

We are currently at Fort Knox, so far I like it. we've only been here a little over a month , the housing is nice( some isn't) . The weather has been decent since we got here, the other day it got up to 85.

@Christina yeah that would never happen with my family. they wont even get on the computer to see pics let alone a live view lol. but i know what your sayin it def. be beautiful & fun Im sure! I don't mind deployments at all.. lol I know that sounds bad but i need a break too & that keep our relationship stronger he agrees lol.. thanks tho

@Sunshine.. Trust me, I understand. We moved out there when my son was 5 months (he had just turned 5m the day before we left) and moved back here when my son was 13 months. It is hard, but you can Skype and everything. And think about all the neat things you would be able to see.. But it was just a thought. Don't pass up a great opportunity that only comes by once. They pay for you to move out there, so it's not like any of it is coming out of your pocket (well it did for us, but that's a long story and definitely not your typical situation). Good luck figuring it out, though! I know my husband and I are trying to figure out what to put down for his next assignment when he comes back from deployment, so it can be a little stressful. Wish you all the best!

The reason I don't wanna go there is cause my family then would NEVER get to see my son so that far wouldn't work I wouldn't of mind going if I didn't have a baby...

I am so sick of rain, lmao:) I think we may just go back to fort campbell, ky:) close to my parents so they can see their ONLY grandson:) lol

We loved Ft Lewis when we were there, but it has been a few years. You do have to get used to the rain though. Otherwise I am not much help as we seem to have gotten all the odd bases over the last 15 years (Panama, Ft Ord or whatever they call it now). My husband was at Ft Bragg for a bit and he liked it. He said the housing was really nice there.

Hawaii itself is beautiful, but I would definitely say that Schofield/WAAF is not the best Army post. I have heard that Fort Drum (NY) and Fort Stewart (GA) are good and Fort Jackson was Ok when my husband was up there for Basic..



Schofield has it's good points and bad points like any other post. I guess it's just all in how you want to look at it.



But since you have the opportunity, why not HI? It really is beautiful around Waikiki and even North Shore. We are heading back there once my hubby comes back from deployment and we are definitely going to get out more this time around. I want to soak it all in.

By the way Ft. Leonardwood sucks. There's nothing here. I love walmart but unless you drive more than an hour there's no where else to shop. Bonus it's cheap here real estate even cheaper than KY.

My husband and I are currently stationed here at Ft. Hood and whatever you do don't ask to come here. I really don't like it and neither does my hubby. My daughter loves it though because the school system here is great but that's about the only good thing I can say. I have a friend that will be pcsing to Ft. Carson in May. She and her Husband are ready to get away from Hood as well. My family will be pcsing to Vilseck Germany in August and I could use the change of scenery. Good luck to you!

Do you mean where you want as in overseas too? Or just within the states? I guess it just depends on your Husbands job and everything. But we are in Okinawa, japan and we love it. Its very tropical and the locals are so nice and respectful because thats their culture. We've been here for 9 months and were here for 3 years! Be ready to get home sick though because everyone does.

I'm at Fort Drum. What I like about it up here is that there's plenty of things for the kiddo's to do, they're almost done building a brand new day care and there's plenty of things to do in Syracuse which is about an hour away. The only thing is the snow. Seeing as you're at Fort Carson I'm gonna guess snow isnt a big deal to you :) i love Fort Jackson SC it's beautiful down there. I've been wanting to go to Sam Houston I've heard its the best post out of Bliss, Hood and Houston. I've also been to Fort Dix and Fort Bragg. Bragg isn't too bad IMO.

My husband and I have been in the military for 16 years and have been to quite a few duty stations-most were good!!
We actually met in Germany and it really wasn't too bad~travel wise. From there we were at Fort Meade. It was tolerable and D.C. is right there so that was a plus. Then we went to Atlanta and the only good thing I can say about it is that it was close to my family. Then, being blessed as we are, the Army sent us to Fort Bliss, TX. Not my favorite place by a long shot but it was only a year!! From there we went to Fort Bragg and I absolutely loved it!! Didn't want to ever leave and would love to go back! After a few deployments, we got our choice of assignment and decided to try Hawaii. Once the island fever leaves you, it isn't too bad! We are actually on our second assignment here and are not looking forward to when they finally make us move!
So, that is all I have to offer. I know that a duty station is what you make of it and it's a totally personal preference!!

well my hubby and i are at ft lewis! its beautiful here but you have to get used to the rain and all that! we were stationed in belgium for 3 years! the duty station sucked so bad (small base = high school mentality) but the traveling was awesome!! so far lewis hasnt been bad but i try to avoid doing to much "army" stuff! im hoping to get more into the outdoors stuff this summer and maybe do the winter cabin/mnt thing this winter?! ive been here 2 years and im just now starting to consider it home!! id love to go to colorado some day! it was our second choice!
