New to the Ft. Hood and Army wife life.

I am very new to army life and being an army wife. My husband I are newlyweds. I left my family and friends back in Indiana....so I am very new to living here...and I dont know what to do, where to ever get a part time job at or anything.

Hey Katie! I grew up in the Army and am now a wife to a soldier. What you're going through is completely normal! Ft. Hood IS huge, but there's a ton of stuff to do. I know it can seem really hard, but get involved with one or two things on post and you'll find you start to feel more comfortable and can keep in touch with everything going on in the area. Hi Katie, Im Candice and we are stationed here at Ft Hood. Are you a stay at home mom? how old are your kids? I have 5 3 boys and 2 girls, ages 14,13,10,5 and 1. Hello, I am not at fort hood...currently my husband is in Korea doing an unaccompanied tour so we are in SC and waiting to get his next assignment. I have been married to my husband for 6 years but I was in the Army when we were first married. I got out of the Army last year so I am still getting used to the differences as an Army wife. And truthfully I think I liked being in the Army better than being out. It is very hard meeting people and also finding a job at the same time as getting your family situated. Hey Katie, looks like you've found quite a few army wives! My husband (of 7 years) has been in for 6 years, and we have two kids. Aurora is 4, and Jordan just turned 1. My hubby's been stationed at Fort Hood since June, and the kids and I have been here since August. We love it! We are originally from Michigan, so this is completely different! There is a lot to do in the area. You should find the Fort Hood FMWR on fb, b/c they always have posts on freebies and things to do. We live in Belton, but it sounds like it may be fun to try and get a mom play date going on! BLORA is a great place for families. Enjoy this area while you're here!

Hi, Katie! My husband has been stationed at Ft. Hood since March 2010. Currently he's deployed and we (me and the kids) are living in MO with my family but we'll be back to Hood by the end of December. I love the Ft. Hood area and can't wait to get back there! It was a huge change for us because I grew up in MO, then lived in MN where my husband is from, then moved to Ft. Hood....one extreme to the other! Hi Katie. I am getting ready to move down to TX from IN this weekend to be with my new husband too. We actually got married before he left for his training! I am pregnant, due Dec. 18, so I will be in the same boat you are in, but will be at Fort Sam Houston.
