HI, my husband is deployed for 1 year and i have a 4 year old who cries almost every night and a 16 months old son who calls every guy daddy. he left about 5 months ago now and it is hard. I do not know where he is either exactly as he can't tell me. My daughter doesn't understand why her daddy is gone and askes me all the time if daddy is coming home soon. She was young when he left for the last long deployment so this time it is much harder on her. how can i explain to her when she just turned 4 years old where daddy is and when he is coming home?

Most of us can understand and know the heart wrenching when our little ones ask questions about daddy and where he is or when is he coming home.  Something that has helped my kids understand maybe alittle better is to tell them that daddy is at work protecting his family and country and that he will be home as soon as he can be.  Something else that might help would to have her write or draw daddy some letters for when she misses him for when he returns.  It is important to stay positive for them with out missleading them.  I think that it is okay once in a while to have your kids see that you miss daddy too but to stay as positive as possible.  This life isn't easy however, your probably stronger than you think....just one day at a time.
