Has anyone ever been stationes at Dyess AFB? If so how was it? We will be moving there soon and I'm very excited because We hate being here in hawaii. I know some people may thinks it crazy but being stuck on an island for 4 years is like being in prison. My husband has been in for 6 years and this is out 3rd move. We have 2 children 2 and 2mos.

best advice about pcsing to dyess, bring sun block and ice water! this week it's supposed to be 102-105 outside, it's pretty hot here in the summer...

we got staioned here about a year ago, i have one son 2 1/2 and another on the way. i like going out and doing stuff with my son, zoo, mall ,walks, etc. dyess is ok, i'm not super fond of it but we are here till retirment :)

JaLysa, You must've been to some pretty awesome bases to be able to put Dyess down so much! Go to Wright Patterson OH or Ellsworth, SD and let me know if you would like Dyess better!

I am from Abilene, so I am familiar with Dyess, that's where my husband and I met. I love Abilene, (after being gone for so long). My parents still live there, and we visit as much as we can. Good luck and just as anywhere there will be people that love it and people that hate it, but it is what you make it.

I liked it while I was there! It was our first base and I really didn't have anything to go off of. It had everything we needed but the base is small next to the other bases we've been at since. I thought it was quite nice and peaceful there. Good luck! It's a lot better than some other places you could go!

we were there just over 2 years...would have been 3 but hubby got sent to korea. I liked it a lot but we moved there from Minot AFB so it was a step up :) lol It is a small town but it has just about everything you need. Restaurants, 2 Walmarts, a mall, lots of outdoor area for kids to play. Ft. Worth/Dallas is about 2 1/2-3 hours east of dyess. San Antonio is 4 hours south of Dyess. we drove down there a few times and went to Sea World and the Riverwalk. It does have a lot of colleges so there are a lot of college students but I enjoyed it. We stayed on base in new housing and they have a bunch of parks for the kids to play at. Just go with an open mind and get involved in different things and you will enjoy it! :) let me know if you have any questions!
