MY HUSBAND WILL BE LEAVING TOMORROW *HOPEFULLY WITH FINGERS CROSSED* TO COME HOME FOR HIS R&R. HE PROBABLY WON'T MAKE IT HOME BY CHRISTMAS BUT I'D REALLY LOVE TO FIND HIM SOMETHING PERSONAL HE CAN TAKE BACK WITH HIM FOR HIS LAST 8 MONTHS OF THIS YEAR LONG TOUR, ANY IDEAS? I BOUGHT HIM A PS3 AND GAME HE WANTED FOR IT THAT HE CAN TAKE BACK WITH HIM SO HE'S NOT SO BORED ON HIS DAYS OFF (HE WORKS A 24 HR SHIFT THEN OFF FOR 2 DAYS!) I'D GREATLY APPRECIATE ANY AND ALL IDEAS YOU MAY HAVE FOR THIS PERSONALIZED GIFT! THANKS!

They do have them at WalMart.. I think my mom got one from Kohl's.. I went and looked at it a little bit ago, it's not the actual Flip, but it's basically the same thing. It's a little bit bigger, not too much though, and the one we got you can plug directly into the computer's USB port. And it's cheaper I think than the actual Flip, so if you're on a budget..

Christine, I think I'll do the pedicure when my husband comes back. He knows how much I HATE feet.. So that will mean a lot to him, since I rarely even just rubbed them for him when he was home. Thanks for the great idea!

When my husband came home last year for R&R (after a month after Christmas) he said the only thing he wanted was to relax. So I went and got him some flannel pajama sets and I put together a shave kit with some of his favorite skin care/ shaving products (Tolsom & AXE were his 2 favs), a bamboo washcloth, a back scrubber mit. I pretty much did a couple mornings where I brought him breakfast or coffee in bed. In addition, though he initially fought me on this, I took him to get a pedicure - his feet were in a real bad way and after wards he thanked me for it. In the end it will be the little thoughtful things... I hope my experience will help you...and Merry Christmas/ Happy Holidays!

Thank you girls all sooo much! I wish we had a build a bear store around here where I live, but we don't :( I'd have to drive an hour to get to one of those stores. What is the secret code idea? That sounds cute, I'm not sure on what you mean, exactly?

He just messaged me a few mins ago and said he's leaving his base to start the journey home today and OMG I'm sooo nervous! I want to go find a cute outfit to wear for when I pick him up at the airport in a few days, but its snowing and I live on a mountain :( BOO!!!! LOL But, hopefully the snow doesn't delay him!

I thought about going to a jewerly store and finding some kind of chain and piece that I can get something engraved on that would be personal to just us, but I'm not sure how long that would take. I should have thought about what I was gonna do long ago, but I've had too much going on.

I may go look for that Flip today. Does Wal Mart carry them? Thats about the only store we have here, sadly enough. He has a camera over there, but he's lost the charger, so we have to find one of those while he's home. With the Flip though, I can record the kids opening their gifts on Christmas if he misses it and send him sweet lil nothings from myself :-)

I had actually thought about the pedi too, but as you know I'm sure, its a "girly thing" and men don't want to do that. I'm sure he'd love it once it was over with, its just getting him there to do it! I'd prob have to tie him up, duck tape his mouth and cover his eyes and then pack him inside to get him to go! LOL But I'd so love to do that with him, if he would.

Thanks again for the great ideas! Hope you all have a wonderful Holiday Season!

My mom bought my husband a Flip, whatchamacallit. My mom is going to record my son (17 months old) opening presents on Christmas and we're going to send that in his care package so he can watch it whenever he wants to.. Maybe make him a video telling him how much you love him and can't wait for him to come home.. Something that he will be able to cherish and go to every time he wants to see you or hear your voice.

I know it sounds dorky, but what about a Build-a-Bear, one of the ones where you can record your voice? Have it say something like "I love you hunny and can't wait for you to come home."

Or possibly, create a secret code, give him one of the keys and add a special message everytime you send him something...

If I come up with anymore ideas, I'll post 'em up, but these were the ones I was able to think up off the top of my head.
