Hey ladies,

My husband has been in the Marines for almost 6 years and is a Sgt., we have been in the same station and unit the whole time. He is currently looking into doing a B Billet between Drill Instructor or Recruiting Duty. I was just hoping for some Pros and Cons on both and advice! I know that neither are easy on a marriage, but Im just grateful that he will be in the states for a few years. We have a 1 year old daughter and are hoping to add another to our family soon! Please any advice would be great!

My husband got tagged for recruiting duty. Whether your husband gets an urban station or rural station, he will never have regular hours at all. Also, most of the time you will be very far away from a Marine base which means the only other Marines wives will be the ones who are married to those working in the same office as your husband (if they're married - you could be the only wife). It's a very lonely existence.
Now, I've heard that while DI duty is hard, your husband will eventually get into a routine where he'll have weeks with long hours and some weeks with shorter hours. You will also be near a Marine base so that you will have support of other wives.
My advice if you do end up on recruiting duty is to look at it as a 3 year deployment during which you will see your husband most nights (late) and some Sundays. Most Saturdays he will be working.
