We are thinking of moving to Ft. Lee from our current duty station. I was wondering if anyone had any insight on the schools in that area. Elementary and High school. Our children are currently in private school, I am just trying to figure out if we should continue to budget for private or if the public schools in that area are up to par.

I wish I had a more specific answer for you but we are farther away...My husband is at Ft. Belvoir and we live in Stafford, VA. I think it just varies by county. Stafford county has some excellent schools, we couldn't be more pleased. But the next county over, Prince William county apparently has more issues. Since there was no on-post housing available, we looked all over and Alexandria didn't seem that great either. We were told, no matter what you do, stay out of Maryland. The BAH is pretty good out here if you're off post and I think if we could, we would opt for private school. We just have too darn many kids to afford that (3 in school, a 13mo old and another on the way). LOL Keep doing research and good luck!

i'm not sure about that area but i live in yorktown, not far, and i think the schools are good, but then i'm from philly where there are 35 kids per class and you can't take text books home so you might not wanna go by me..lol
