He has had it for a week now. He was on antibiotics for an ear infection but was fine until his last couple doses of it. He has been off the antibiotics for about a week now. He won't eat very much. He plays all day and acts fine...other than the diaper rash from pooping so much. There has also been a stomach bug going around so maybe it's from that? He woke up last night at 3 am and threw up too. Should i take him to the doctor or wait it out and see if it goes away on its own? He still has wet diapers and he's drinking a lot of fluid...just not eating..he used to eat a lot. He also has two more teeth coming in . could it be from that? help

i wounder if its rota... my daughter got that a lot ... it last for a week or so... i know her ped ( who worked with a lot of premiees ) said that when she was sick i could take a 8oz bottle . 1/2 water 1/2 pedialte and one scoop of her neosure. when she got of that and it was milk it was like 1 oz. so they do not lose all thier cals. as she got better i was able to increase it ... hope that helps some

I took him to the doctor. He didnt lose any weight and he wasnt dehydrated. The doc told me to lay off the milk and give him pedialite. There is a nasty stomach bug going around here and he said that was more than likely why he was sick. Yesterday he actually ate a little for breakfast, a little more for lunch and a lot for dinner. So far so good. Thank you for your advice. I gave him some bananas and toast....no luck with the rice or applesauce though...he wasnt having it. ha ha

I'd take him to the doctor, it is always better to be safe than sorry. If he's had this issue for over a week he needs fluids. Something like pedialite is good for little one's. Remember the word BRAT when your kid gets potty problems like this, or has vomited. BRAT=Bananas, Rice, Applesauce, Toast. Those are the best things to feed them to get their stomach back to normal. Good luck hun!

Take him to the Dr. Trust your mothers intuition on this. If he isn't eating it isn't a food allergy that just came to the surface so it could be his teeth yes or the stomach bug. Try giving him oatmeal to eat. It will help with the diarrhea and help his tummy get strong again. Also by some chewy vitamins to help ward off any bugs that might become present over the next few months of the winter, m son loves the chewy ones. He thinks he gets candy lol. Like Heather has said, the BRAT diet is great also. We also rub our kids belly's in a counter clockwise circle if they have diarrhea . If they can't poop you go in a counter clock wise circle and it helps them poop. Both work for us:) It works great on adults as well. Stay away from foods that are high in fiber until it clears up so no kiwi, mango, squash,beans...shudder...lol
I hope it gets better for you...i also pray it stays in the diaper lol.
Good luck!!

I would call and talk to your Dr's office first, as long as your baby is still producing more than a few wet diapers in a 6hr period (and depending on how old your bub is...) then it is not an indication that your child is dehydrated. Pick up some pedialyte ( or ask ypur Dr. for some) and plug that bub with fluids fluids fluids. Stay away from regular sports drinks and juice, as they don' have the electolytes needed to keep your baby hydrated. Antibiotics will give a baby loose stool, but he could've picked up the secpndary bug as well. For the rash warm bath and make sure he is dry all the way before adding the ointment (something thick like Desitin original) if it doesn't clear have the Dr. check that as well, babies can sometimes be prone to yeast when their Ph is thrown off.

His diet will fluctuate a bit when he is teething, because it hurts, try shorter more frequent feedings, see if it helps? For peace of mind, always touch bases with your Peds.

I would call his doctor or talk to the triage nurse. As well I would give them lots of liquids, whatever is the baby favorite drink and of course pedryalite. I always have some in my frige. For the rush. I always bath my boy and girl with warm water and let them soak, then a good diape rush oinment. conrscratch is always good. But I totally would talk to the doctor and see what they advice. Good luck

I think that you should go ahead and take him to the doctor. You said he had diaper rash already and I am sure you wouldnt want it to get worse. That would make you having to change him even harder and I know you dont want him to be in any pain =) You could also try feeding him the BRAT diet for a day or two to help cure a stomachache. The brat diet consists of limiting his food intake to four items, bananas, rice, applesauce and plain toast. I also have a friend whos little girl has diarhea often and the doctor said it could be from to much juice. Good luck with everything, I hope the little guy gets better =)
