Hey everyone. I was wondering what franchises give military discounts. We are trying to save money so it would be nice to know where to get discounts. Thanks!

Quoting Carolyn:
the nike outlet stores offer either a 10 or 15% discount. got some shoes that were on sale for $20, gotta love it ;)
When I worked for them they didn't have one. It is not company policy. So it was just that one store. I wish it was company policy bc nike owns more then just "nike"

Old Navy does for the first 3 or 4 days of every month. I don't know why they don't do it all the time, but at least the do it some time.

I ask everywhere I go. The worse the can say is "no" but you'd be surprised how many businesses do.

I think it depends on how close you shop to your station. I always ask everywhere I go and I seem to find that the closer I am to base, the more people do the discount. I just happened to ask at Home Depot this weekend and they said it depends on the store. Best advice is to just ask everyone! Good luck. Plus, here are a few sites to peruse. www.couponcabin.com, www.retailmenot.com, and www.shortcuts.com. The first 2 have coupon codes for shopping online too.

If you want to get really serious about saving money here are a few tips that have saved us hundreds a week. First, I cloth diaper. Second, I meal plan almost a month a head of time then coupon hunt, start with coupon sites then add with store sites and if you get a paper or know some one who does add those on. Third, I use WIC, most enlisted families with a stay at home mom qualify (check your state). Fourth, I free cycle, there are sites all over , it is a yahoo group where you can offer anything you want to get rid of and you can find all kinds of neat stuff. Finally, just plan and shop. I plan out what I need months a head of time and then start looking for deals not just at goodwill or thrift stores (often many things are more expensive than sales or dollar stores). I make it a fun thing that me and my one year old go to stores just to look, knowing my list of things we are looking for, and we have fun learn new things and find great deals.

The main thing to do is always ask, we live on post so most places around do, but back home, a select few will, but I have been surprised by small business owners that do it all i had to do was show ID and ask, most will do it if you can prove it. I just say ask everytime you make a purchase, its not hurting anything and you may be surprised!

You can search nationwide or by state. I know in some of the malls, they offer discounts on the 1st and 15th of the month. And like everyone else said, just ask! All they can say is no!

Just ask everywhere you shop or eat. There have been a few times when the company didn't have a military discount but then offered us free things or gave us the senior citizen discount.

Let's see the store Buckle gives a military discount. As well as IHOP. The best thing to do is go to military.com it has a list for discounts in each state.

Not all Lowes or Home Depot do. You would be surprised at some places that do. I ask at every store. I have gotten discounts at clothing stores in the mall (Debs) and lots of restaurants. Even when I'm not near a military base I ask. The worst that can happen is they say "No." (I usually ask if they have military or AAA discounts.)
For businesses that do it company wide you can search on-line. But don't stop with that, because like I said some do and some don't.
I was sorely disappointed when I went to the local Home Depot here at Fort Riley and found that they don't do the discount when I've been getting it for years at Fort Drum.

Lowes gives a discount you have to show ID though because people have been claiming their military when they weren't and basically abusing the privilage.

It depends on where you are. When my husband was stationed at Camp Pendleton, CA the Denny's right outside of base gave a discount as well as some of the wineries up in Temecula. Now we are in Rapid City, SD. Just about all of the Wendy's give us a discount. In Sioux Fall, SD, the Valentino's Italian buffet gave us a discount when we went there for lunch. To find the ones in your area, talk to your neighbors. They should know where at least some are.
