Do any of you Navy wives with small children know of any groups in the Hampton roads area (Newport News, or close to NN) that support Navy wives? My neighbor's husband just shipped out until August, and she's alone with her daughter. She is new to the area, and really needs some help, and other military wives to bond with. I'm trying to help her find some support for her and her 10-month-old. Please provide any contact information, links, etc., that I can pass on to her. She's a young wife and mother, and is feeling isolated, lonely and a little overwhelmed. Any help you can provide would be great. Thanks.

I'm in the Newport News area and I have a 10 month old daughter. I have also been looking for someone to talk to and have another child for my daughter to play with! My email is lovemysailor213@gmail.com if she would like to get together! :)

I am also in Newport News. I would suggest she really check on meetup.com. Not trying to plug a website or anything but they have a ton of mommy groups in the area and she can find one that is right for her. HOpe that helps :-)

We just got stationed here in December and we live in Hampton. I am still trying to figure out what all is here as well. My kids are older and they both are in school. So, it gets lonely while they are in school and hubby is at work. It's tough moving to an area to where you know nothing about or have a support group that can help you cope with it. If, she wants someone to talk to or hang out with, she can contact me.

you can tell her to send me an email if she is interested. I hope to get the group up and running this month. My email is kpurrier@gmail.com. In the mean time since our children are close in age perhaps she would be up for some play dates!

Hey there Michele, I am thinking of creating a group. I pretty much felt the same way she is feeling when I moved here to Norfolk in September. My daughter is now 11 months and I haven't had much success finding a group. But I have found other ways to cope,so I think it would be nice to create one so we can support those in need and share our experiences. .

I am an army wife living in Newport News. There are tons of parks and playgrounds to take little ones to and meet people. I get support through friends at church. Of course my kids are a bit older than hers, but I would be willing to talk to her.
