So me and my husband are currently stationed at fort belvoir va. And he is reenlisting and then we will be going to fort knox, kentucky. My husband is infantry but my question is that the inantry company there is deploying in december but we won't get there until march .. how long is his training before he has to deploy with the rest? Does anyone know?

Def will deploy. Ft Knox infantry deploy a lot and take it from a wife of an MP that was at ft Knox a lot of those infantry guys are big time trouble makers, not all, but a good portion of them so be careful who he becomes friends with. Like another spouse said make sure you have power of attorney in hand before he leaves. If their rotation is almost over he likely won't deploy.

I don't know the standard on joining up with other soldiers over there. BUT I knew someone that had to go over right away... I also knew someone who had to get the deployment training which could be from one to two months. It depends on how fast the unit needs him over there. If he has deployed previously then most likely he will go right away, or with a short 'reminder training' . Just a tip make sure you get power of attorney! That way you can handle everything without the hassle of 'oh you need your sponsor here'.

His Training will depend on the post standards. His unit will let him know when he gets there how much time it will take. If he has any questions he can always try to contact his unit before he gets there.

If they are deployed when he gets there, he will likely join them right away. He may get a couple of weeks to get you set up with housing but thats it. Or they will find a different unit to put him with thats not deployed. Its all up to the Army.

I don't know the timeframe for the Army (my husband is a Marine), but I do know that if they are there in time for the workups for deployment that they will deploy. I think the USMC workups start about 3-4 months before deployment. It's been a few years since he deployed so I'm not sure anymore. I hope this helps answer your question.
