My husband is in the Army and was delpoyed to korea for 1 year and after he got there he found out that we could go if he extends his tour so that's what he's doing. But i was wondering how moving over there might work. I have a 2 year old and a 6 week old and evn though i know it'll be awhile before we go i wanted to know how to keep them occupied so they don't make a ruckuss on the plane. Any advice or shared experience would be great.

HI there, I have a 4 year old and an 18 month old. We moved to England recently and we took a night flight so they slept alot of the flight. That would be my advice is to see if you can book a late night flight and let them sleep. Also portable DVD players are good too. Good luck!!

traveling with kids.com Awesome place were I've gotten a ton of stuff and it has all been top quality. Geared towards the little ones. Mom's minivan.com also has free games and ideas for older and younger. Patience helps and a 'treat' bag for surprises along the way to use as distractions & good behavior rewards. Spent about $35 at the dollar store and was good for a couple of months. With a two year old, you can re-use some of the 'toys'. Plus if he throws it, you won't care it was only a buck! (You can pretend it didn't come from him on the plane.) The blow up toddler bed with bumpers was awesome at the hotels & in the house till we got the household goods. It comes in a backpack with a pump. Easy to carry, pack pump up, fit in a corner, use as a play land during the day, etc. Plus with the infant and toddler (mine were 22 mos apart), most places won't have or have room for two cribs. I also invested in the harness for the airport transfers. The airports are just sooo busy and the infant can distract you for even the smallest of times and the toddler can dis-appear in a second flat. The harness put my mind at ease, and when we found a sitting spot to wait for the next flight, it gave him a little space to 'run around' with out me having to worry so much. Double strollers are too big to push and stow, I had the umbrella stroller (it fits in the airplane isle) and if nothing else, it was good for the diaper bags carrying. People are usually really helpful when they see you have two babies and one adult.
So much to say here! Call it an adventure and get plenty of sleep before!

I took that same flight alone with my two children.  Our son was 4 and our daughter was 9 months.  Fortunately I left at night so they both slept alot and there were tvs on the back of the seats for them to watch, which really only applied to my son on the way over to Korea.  So I guess the best advice I have is to try to leave in the evening, that worked well for us on the flight over and back.

We returned from Korea in October of this year, so if you have any questions, I'm happy to help you out.
