Coming to Ft.Polk from Korea!

Hi Ladies, Im wanting to try to get some information about ft. polk. this will be our second duty station. we are currently in seoul, korea, so this si going to be a very big move for us, especially because we have a baby. We report to Polk in July, she will be a little over a year old then. Can anyone tell me anything good about fort polk? Ive heard so many negatives. Do you know how long it takes for housing? Ive looked online and havent found any apartments or homes for rent. Any info would be helpful! Thank you!

My husband just got orders for Fort Polk as well, We have a 14 month old daughter. We are going to be moving there in about 3-4 weeks. I have heard mostly bad things about the area as well.

I am not sure how long it takes for housing, we are still in the process. But yeah, I have looked online as well and there really isn't much to choose from.

I will give you more information when I get down there if you want.

they told us it would take up to three months for housing and it actually only took us a couple of days. good luck!

We just moved here in oct and my hubby just got deployed a few weeks ago. in all honestly its not that bad. im from the bay area in CA and we are used to much more entertainment and what not. But alexandria isnt to far a drive they have a zoo and a mall target etc, and lake charles isnt much further. theres alot of things to do on base (playgroups, parks, walks) the PX is pretty nice. The town of leesville is pretty boring theres only walmart a handful of stores and tons of fast food resturants lol its definatly what you make it. The wives here are super nice and everyone is super friendly i hope you like it!
