That's a tough situation. I don't know first-hand because my son is only 19 months and I haven't dated anyone seriously since I've had my son. Although he does love extra company! Anyway, I think it's important for the boyfriend to show interest in the child as well. If the boyfriend shows interest and plays with your son, then your son will begin to trust him and enjoy time with both of you together.
I don't know if you show a lot of affection in front of your son to your boyfriend but that may also cause some jealousy. Maybe speaking with your son to see what's bothering him the most?? I also think what Nikki says is important as well. Hope all goes well!!

I am single again with a son and I do not see anyone by my own choice but I have been single before years ago after my divorce with a daughter . I know they get jealous as they have had you all to themselves for so long so it's a adjustment but I think the best way to handle it is to include him as much as possible in everything you guys do . The more he feels a part of the three of you the more accepting he will become. Also if he sees you both display affection to each other and to him he will feel more open to the new idea ! I know it's especially tough for boys to share mom but if he bonds with your boyfriend then he won't mind sharing you :) Hope that helps !
