I cured our son of his eczema with the help of a nutritionist that specializes in allergies. You should look one up and see what they can do for you. You don't necessarily have to live with eczema for life or even childhood in all cases.

I have suffered from eczema all my life. Sometimes with really bad flare ups and sometimes with nothing. My kids also have mild cases, so here is what works for us:
1 - use aveeno soap. It has no fragrance and is natural oatmeal so it helps with the skin.
2 - lotion after every bath. I, again, use Aveeno, the fragrance free version only
3 - oatmeal bath. Also from Aveeno. If he eats it, it won't hurt him.
I do NOT get any commission from Aveeno. It's just the only thing I've found that works. Also, most laundry detergents have the perfumes and addititives that cause problems. Amway's SA8 has been the only soap I have never had any problems with that actually cleans my clothes as well. (No I'm not a dealer and you can get it straight online without a dealer).
Also, try keeping baby socks on his hands to prevent the scratching. It really is a miserable feeling!!!

It is possible to "grow out of it" My son had severe eczema for the first 3 years of his life. Thankfully it was only during the summer. (and we live in Wa, so it was over very quick) The steroid creams (which often do more harm then good) didn't work well, the expensive OTC creams didn't work, but we finally figured it out. Since his first flare up, he is only given a bath every 3rd day, unless he gets filthy, and we use Jergens Ultra healing Lotion for extra dry skin every night before bed. It has been 2 years since he's had any spots show up.
Good luck!

I have an 11 year old who has had eczema since he was about 6 months. We have tried everything! All the prescriptions, lotions, soaps and everything. I have tried this with my son and it seems to work very well. He still has breakouts from time to time but this stuff really works best for him. My son cannot have peanuts or shellfish either. I know short baths and lukewarm water helps and we all use Eucerin lotion. Good luck. I know how frustrating this can be. http://www.eczemamiracle.com/

My doc said my child would not out grow it, we would learn to manage it. He said, very important, make sure she has enough Omega-3 fatty acids in her system .... use the lotions given - dry skin is not good, care with clothes soap (no dyes, no perfumes) double rinse, my doc said

•Take short baths or showers not long ones
•Use lukewarm water not hot or cold water
•Avoid scented shampoos and soaps and opt for organic and natural alternatives
•Apply natural lotions and creams that lock in moisture after bathing
•Drink plenty of water all through the day which works from within and also flushes out toxins from your body

Try adding 2-3 cups of organic oatmeal to a lukewarm bath and you can bathe a lot longer than you could in a regular bath as you will not aggravate your condition.

Many foods can help fight against eczema and others can help to make it worse. The problem is that this can be different fro person to person! There are strong links between eczema and certain food allergies so you really need to be aware of what you are eating to find the culprits.

Some common. Foods that cause eczema include: Gluten, dairy products, certain food additives and seeded fruits. It could be many other things though so it is recommended tat you keep a food diary and make note of what you have been eating when flare ups occur. Then it is a matter of trial and error to remove one food type at a time form your diet to see which might be a problem food for you.
