You dont, and if he asks about his dad tell him there is no more dada. But remind him that he has you, and the people who are around him and do love him. At 2 he shouldnt really be missing his dad, moms are important when they are that little not dads. Think about it, who does your child want when they are hurt, tired, hungry, etc... That should tell you all kids need are their mothers.

You should never do that! He will grow up soon enough and figure it out on his own. Just be there to support him and help him understand his feelings about it all. My dad tried to kill my mom so we left and when I got in touch with him some 14yrs later I learned for myself he was a drunk and although he and my mother couldn't get along he really did love me. That doesn't mean he was this great man and mom had lied to me..he really did try to kill her and burnt our house down but he was still my dad and he did love me. Just hated my mom!

You don't. Just tell him (for now) Daddy's going away for awhile. No need to traumatize him.
