wow! my theatre where I live sucks. I never brought my own child to the movies until he was 2. I did see one mom have baby ear plugs in her baby's ears. That little pumpkin slept so soundly through the whole movie, which is what I usually end up doing these days too! LOL! I wish my own community was more sensitive to allowing parents nights out. We are lucky to get a children's movie here. I wanted to see the movie BABIES so bad on Mothers Day and it never came. :( okay I went off a bit. I guess I hold some angst towards my communties theatre. I will need to work on that one!! :) LOL!

wow! i just read Dawn's response I wish we had something like that at the movie theaters where I live. That would be amazing! I haven't been to the theater since....I think "New Moon" came out. My daughter is 8 months and I haven't taken her yet just because i'm not sure how she'll react and I don't want to pay the money and then end up having to leave because she's throws a huge fit.

My baby girl was 3 months old when I took her to her first movie with me. I didnt think about the loud sound effects, so I just breast fed her and covered her other ear when it got loud. Now that shes older she sits and watches the movies. I just make sure no more loud action movies for Bella lol.
Enjoy the movies with your baby :)

the movie theatre is extremely loud... and can cause damage to the eardrums of children.... that said, i too brought my son to the theater as an infant... and his hearing is fine... i guess it depends on the child, and the sound in the theater.
im not sure where you are, but in ontario ( canada) we have a program here called stars and strollers... on thursday afternoons, at most theaters, they play two new release movies so you can choose which one youd like to see... for new parents. you are able to bring your baby or young children for a day out... the movies are generally not kid orriented, but they keep the lights dimmed, enough that you are not in complete dark, and can see the baby... turn down the sound of the speakers to a reasonable level.... so as to not hurt the wee ones ears... they set up a change station outside of the movie area... and there is a space to park strollers or car seats.
its absolutely amazing... the kids are able to play on blankets on the front row.... or babble away, without fear of being looked at as bad parents... or interrupt other movie watchers... ( they all bring their kids too. lol )
not sure if you have this kind of thing available to you, but if you dont, maybe you could help innitiate something like it.
enjoy the new baby... hope this helps.
