I have my family supporting me but I know doing this by myself is going to be so hard. I have tried applying for hoc or section 8 but nothing is available. My childs father dismissed himself when I was 2 months pregnant and I'm now 6.I know I'll have to go to court to get full custody and a child support order but I wonder what else is out there as in support. I know there is food stamps and ects but I was wondering is there anything else out there that I don't know about? I am super scared cause I'm going to have a little face looking at me for everything and I want to be a good mom for her.

I heard HOC did that Evelyn. I tried getting into that but nothing was open. The receptionist said that they post openings for waiting lists in out local paper. But I have'nt seen anything yet. I was working but I had pains near my belly button and the doctor at the hospital said it sounded like a small hernea. I'm feeling ok now but I work at a kids shoe store and every week we get shipments that sometimes range from 5 or 15 maybe more. The weight of the boxes range from 20 to 30 pounds and I sometimes have to lift them or push them to the asile in the stockroom where they belong and put boxes of shoes away or climb. And lifting, bending and climbing was restricted from the doctor. My job now says our HR won't take me back without a wriiten statement saying it's ok to work. So hopefully tomorrow when I go for my doc visit I will get good news. I could file for disability but that could take 7 or more days. Either way I need to work or something until she comes cause I have other bills and rent to pay. So I do plan on working before and after I have her. Thanks again for the heads up Evelyn!

I don't know if you're working or planning to work after your baby is born but most states have a program that helps you pay for childcare. Its an awesome program and it will definitly help you save money. Best of luck

There is yahoo's free cycle. Im a single mom, and it gets tough trying to provide. Free cycle usually will have childrens clothing, formula, toys, and other things you might want your child to have or that they will need. Its all free too!!! It sure does help out when things get too hard :) Good luck!

I am already in that program but now that I think about it I do need to go ahead and get full custody of her. Thank you!

You will want to look into WIC. Go down to your county social services office as well - they can give you a complete list of different programs.

If you can - go ahead and get a custody and child support order in line NOW! once baby comes you won't have the time or the energy. Check with your local domestic violence shelter for lawyer/legal aide reccomendations.

Find all the 2nd hand/consignment stores in the area - they will be your best friends for clothing and kids supplies. I have a rule of thumb, I don't spend more than $3 on an item of clothing.

Good luck!
