Is there anything that can help eczema?

My daughter has it. The dr prescribed a 5% hydrocortizone cream and it works if there is a break out or the skin is getting really dry. but the best thing that I have found for my daughter is the bath and shower gel from Norwex. My daughter hasnt had a break out since using it and if you cant get the Norwex Cetaphil soap is good. Also try using All Free and Clear to wash clothes and make sure that everything that they use is washed in it. That was a really good thing. Also for a lotion try using Aquaphor after a bath dont dry them off put the lotion on right away and it will lock in more moisture. After the Aquaphor put on Eucerin lotion on top to add another layer of lotion when the first one is soaked in. All of these have worked awesome for my daughter, her skin used to crack and break and bleed and since using all of these methods it is soft and she doesnt complain about itching or anything.

My daughter has eczema too, It was so sad to see her suffer, I tried many things for years and nothing helped, until I was told to use cocoa butter, not the lotion but the really thick cream, I put it on her in the morning and at night, it does wonders. Good luck.

Hi Kylie. My 5 month old son also has eczema and I have tried everything. Last nights he was in so much pain from me trying a different formula (I put him back on old one) there was johnsons baby aqueous cream next to my bed so I thought let me just put a little on and keep a check incase it gets worse. This morning it is just about gone. So you are right aqueous cream really works. Same he has had so many different creams and medication that has made him so drowsy. It is so nice to see my boy so full of life today and it is thanks to a simple aqueous cream :)

try one spoonfull of goats milk a day n stay away from dairy products im not sayin it will work but is has on a few people , and if u belive in cures its worth a try .

Hello,
My son suffered from eczema for years. The oatmeal baths help with the itching. Lubrederm although a little expensive also works. Keep away from perfumed soaps and make sure the area is totally dry before dressing your child.
Powder does not work, nor should you use oil or vaseline.

I have read through these responses and am surprised that no one has said it could be an allergy to food. When my son was 6 mo we started jar baby food and found out that he was allergic to the food with tomatoes-though it took almost a year to figure it out. The dermatologist went straight to the prescriptions and they kept getting stronger and stronger as his patches just kept getting larger and more 'burn-like' -he looked like a burn victim! Than one mom I talked to suggested that it could be a food allergy. Her daughter was allergic to wheat. Another mother said that her husband was allergic to egg yolk, than another said the whites of eggs. My son is allergic to acidic foods. He couldn't have tomato products, citrus fruits, or even cranberries! It has gotten better over the years-we have built up is tolerance over the years to where it is just on his knees or calves-yay, no more facial patches!
Still when bathing we simply use cetaphil antibacterial bar soap and he soaks for a long time while listening to his music! It seemed like a long road but if you feel the derm is not listening to you-get another derm!

i used to use oilatium on my son you can get a bath oil and cream from the doctors. my son only have it mild and hasnt had any flare ups for about two years now .

Hydrocortosone cream, especially medicated bubble bath and lotions are what I use on my daughter. I also use nonbiological powder on her clothes

Hi LaShonda, my six year had it when she was a baby. I used baby oil gel and skin-so-soft spray. I didn't like how eucerin smelled so I never used it. Hope that helps.

also another good product to use is Vanicream its a moisturizing skin cram for sensitive skin also comes in spf types for summer.It's free of dyes,lanolin, fragrance,masking fragrance, parabens and formaldehyde.

My daughter has it. The only time it really flares up is the changing of the seasons. The summer months is the time that her pedit. said to stay out of the sun and she has a cream that she puts on the back of her leg.

seriously you have to invetigate your babies..allergies..each case is diffr..the word eczemz>irritating skin condition,show up as red itchy,scaly or bumpy patches..the culprit that causes it may not be found on the skin but lies within the body.try RED CLOVER TEA..gnc..store..3 to 4 cups per day /1 month cleanse the body of toxins..spirit mom(good luck)

I had horrible eczema on just my calves (both legs) up until i was about 18 or 19 only thing that helped me when i was younger (we lived in California) my mom would take me to the ocean and the sand and water would make the eczema go away for about a week, when we moved to Wisconsin where the is no oceans lol i used Oatmeal bath stuff it is very cheap you can get it at walmart in the soap aisle and it works wonders makes your skin very soft too!

I know this will sound strange but I have a small spot on my arm that I have had since I was a child whenever it acts up I put some Vick's salve on it and it clears up really nice. I use Vick's on just about everything concerning my skin and it heals things right up. My Grandma suggests it for whatever ails you.

depend on the age of the person with eczema, if your city/town has a walgreens or cvs they both make a hydrocortisone cream and ointment. It is steriod free and works.

I have it on my hands. I wash with dove soap and use jergans lotion but one good thing I used to use is baby oil after a shower while you are still wet then pat dry. The dr. can also prescribe meds for it too.

Ok, I've tried most of what everyone else has tried here and here is what I've found that has cleared it up completely.

1. My pediactrian (incorrect spelling) prescribed an ointment called Muciprocin, Mometasone Furorate, and Derma Soothe Oil. All prescribe, and all worked wonders, but you have to keep getting refills. Plus with the Derme Soothe Oil, if you put it on right after a bath, you can go 2 or 3 days without using the ointments.

I also noticed using Vaseline right after a bath prevents dryness.

2. If you can't get the prescriptions try using the Eucerin, Eucerin Aquaphor, right after a bath, and in the morning before sending your kid off to school, Love it.

Vaseline is good also. Just have to use it more often than the others.

Hydrocortisone is good for the itching also. Just ask your pediatrician about the ointments I mentioned in section 1. If you don't ask they will just prescribed you some hydrocortisone. I was told by my allergist about these skin creams. Oh yeah, you might try to have an allergist test your child to see what triggers the eczema, that might be the best advice I could give.

Look at your local drug store for a line of skin product named CeraVu. They have a full line of cleaners, moisture etc products. It was recommended by a dermatologist and works well. I know they carry it at CVS and would imagine some of the products may even be found at Walmart, but haven't looked.

my niece has it something awful including on the privates. like other post have said aquaphor cream in the round tub is wonderful it is super thick and white. walmart has the generic for half the price and its the same thing. big jart goes a long way. she gets slathered down after a bath and also you might resort as some said to washing them up daily and olive oil or cetaphil soap and save tub baths for every couple of days and when you do them dont let them soak too long. just bathe and get out

My son has ezcema so I use Aquaphor healing ointment by Eucerin which works wonders but it can be a little costly. So I found a cheaper brand called Dermasil which works just as good

I use a product called Olive oil soap it is fantastic on my son's ezcema, also find a good quality moisturizing lotion and use it twice a day more in winter and keep the fluids up as any amout of dehydration will bring on ezcema

My daughter also has ezcema and I slather on Aquafor 2x a day, giving her a tub bath every other day. I use the entire Eucerin line, including the Calming Body Oil/Wash in a gold bottle. It's really moisturing since it is oil that lathers up. I also avoid using anything with scent and keep her cool since extreme temps seem to aggrevate it. Hope this helps.

I found products that are chemical free and they have a lotion that clears up eczema. It is great!! It comes form a Wellness Company that I am building a business with. My daughter and son have very bad eczema...The doctor prescribed Protopic ointment. It didn't really work...Since eczema drys the skin out I stopped giving my kids baths everyday that meant I couldn't let them play outside. I bought them Wii's and DS to help them forget they weren't outside. I noticed a dramatic change in about two weeks. I would try that and hopefully it works.

My son has eczema too and i took him to his doctor and he prescribed hydrocortizone(thts probly not the right spelling) that has helped my son. Also a friend of mine has a daughter wit it and she has 2 use a special soap 2 wash her wit not sure wot its called also try using different laundry powders and see which ones are better to use and which ones lesser the rash and itch. i had 2 do tht as i have the same problem and have found only 2 washing powders i can use
