My daughter will be 2 in January. I am separated and I work from home. I don't get the freedom to get out much now as I am the sole bread winner here at home. My concern is, she is constantly whining and crying. I know she is bored but she is also just a handful and I don't know what to do to please her... She is also VERY stubborn and won't talk much. She understands everything I say but refuses to talk... Please HELP!

Ah terrible twos. My son will be two in February and is doing the same thing and he has an older brother and sister.

Is there anyway you can get her into a play group for even an hour a couple days a week? This might help her not be so "bored".

Another trick that I do with my son is I split up his toys into two piles. He gets one pile to play with for a few days and then I switch them out. Its like he is getting new toys every few days. I know that eventually it won't work but it works for now so that I can get housework and school work done.

Mine understands too and I always get uh-uh or no...it may just be the terrible two stage, which does pass. Keep your head up and good luck:)

Choose your words with care; they have power. You say, refuses to talk. Maybe she actually has no words for what she is feeling?

You call her a handfull - she is a baby, totally dependent upon you and wanting more then anything in the world to please you, for you to like her, and for your attention

The seperation was hard on you. It was had on her too - if you are stressed, she is stressed. If you are worried, she is worried. If you are feeling wornout, so is she

A two yr old can not, can not, play by herself while you work. Her need for adult attention is too great.

Maybe hire a teen to come in and play with her while you work?
