My 3 yo will pee in the potty; still uses a diaper to poo in. My son refuses to pee in any restroom except home and gymboree. Everytime we go out and he has to pee, I take him to the bathroom, looks in the toilet tells me he cant go in here. He wants me to take him outside.

I do not know what to do. MY son is in big boy underwear(no pull ups). I do not know how to get my son to go in another bathroom. Please help.

i never had the problem not using it out of the house. but i did have the problem with poop. he would be in underwear all day tell bed time. then i would put a underjam on and he would poop right away. so i ended up just not putting one on anymore. then it stopped. not they have those goodnite pads that go under the sheets on the bed. i would try that and see if it works.

It might be good to find out WHY he doesn't want to pee in the restrooms... perhaps they are too big and he's afraid to fall in, or he fears that they are dirty - its hard to say, but perhaps a series of pointed "Yes or no" questions may help you figure that out.

Then, its likely that a social story, explaining that public toilets are cleaned and safe, may be the way to go in this type of situation.

Good luck!
