My baby is three months old and I was told by the ped that he is lactose intolerant. I put him on a soy formula that he advised. That is when the prob started for my bub. Hard balls of poop that he battles to pass. I give him diluted prune juice, or sugar water (brown only) and he has a sachet of probiotics every second day. I AM STILL BATTLING. Don't trust soy as a solution. It has no fats or fibre in it at all.....

Same thing happen to my son a few months ago...he is one year old. It started when I switched from formula to regular milk. So I switched to some formula (powder milk) for one year old and up and it stopped and he is pooping just fine, But like some one said you might want to take her to her Ped. and tell them about it and hopefully they can help her out.
Good Luck and hope she gets better :)

If she is still having problems even after taking her to the doctor, take her back. She may need a change in formula or if you are nursing take a look at what you are eating. In any case, she is having problems for a reason, and it should be checked out. As for starting her on solids, that is something you should discuss with your doctor. I nursed my sons and did not start them on cereal until they were six months old per my pediatrician directions. More than likely your child problem is dietary, but your doctor should really talk with you about it.

its constipation my daughter did the same thing add a little bit (a teaspoon or so )of karo syrup to her bottle each feeding, if shes having problems pooping you dont want to add cereal to her bottle yet. Give her some baby pear juice, apple, and prune. My little one is 16 mo and still has to have apple juice or fruit every other day to keep everything regular. The karo will take a few days to kick in but it will work. Dark karo works the best. Good luck

It is constipation. I used to put either rice or oatmeal in my babies milk. I can't remember which one it was but I want to say it was the rice. Once I took him off of it and only gave him milk it subsided. I then did oatmeal instead. But, then again, at 1 month they should only be drinking milk.

It typically means they are not drinking enough. My neice does it but my son doesnt. He drink water, juice, milk, etc. all day long, where as shell only have a few sips here and there.

My son did that too, he even threw up each time he pooped, since he had to push so hard. I went to my regular Dr and they referred me to a gastroenterologist, he still takes his "poop med" to this day, mine is a powder that i mix with a drink or food, hope you get this resolved quickly.

I am raising two of my grandsons when the younger one was a baby he had this problem and his pediatrician recommended mineral oil. I t worked wonders for him.. I think he was a little older than your daughter and I am sure you wil want to call your daughters pediatrician before trying this. Hope you find help cause that is NO fun.

You could try soy formula...some of the regular formulas out there are to harsh for infants until they develope better digestive systems. I had to switch both of my girls to soy formula. My oldest who is going on 13 yrs was on soy formula for the her first 4 yrs of life bc none of the stores near our home carried a soy milk to put her on. i would get a second opinion regarding the dr and if it still continues take her to the local childrens hospital. They can always run indepth tests to make sure she doesnt have a blockage...you need to worry about her developing hemoriods and yes she can get them at that age.

You can use Karo syrup. Just a few squirts in the bottle. I used prunes to feed her and that helped. She's 7 months and still have constipation problems due to her formula but since she allergic to milk based formula its all she can have so I still her prunes every other day and she BMs several times the days following but they aren't painful and hard anymore.

oh, and yeah....when he screamed and cried and bowed his little legs out trying to push.... the doc had me lay him on his back and push his knees to his chest and sometimes i had to put vaseline on a thermometer to helphim get it out, you only put as far as the metal part on it no further. But i would ask the doctor because Every doc has a different oppinion on how things should be done.

Costipated hun, my oldest one used to always get constipated like that. My doc told me to give him prune juice but whatever you do, it should only be 1oz diluted with 7oz of water or juice. I was not told that and gave him 8oz's of it and we both took a nap and i woke up to him laughing and hearing splashing noises... it was completely nasty. Lol, and i can laugh now Only because its been 11 years since then.

If you are breastfeeding, you need to take a good look at your diet. Are you getting enough fiber, etc? Because your baby is getting everything you are eating. If she is strictly on formula, have you recently changed it?
