Hi all, does anybody else have an 8 year old that acts as though they are 18??? how do you deal with it? I only have to ask him to tidy his room or pick up his socks and he goes all 'kevin' on me!!!

Totally. My eight year old bosses the other two kids around and trys to alway manipulate her way. She is mommys little helper and aims to please me and her dad but she is really something else. I swear that she's been on this earth before and she knows too much.

I do as well. She is as hardheaded and bossy as she can get. My oldest child was NEVER this bad. I attributed it to my not being able to be as strict and her dad giving in to her tantrums when she was younger. I kept telling him not to and to enforce or back up what he had said but I was in and out of the hospital and when I was at home I was extremely limited as to what I could do. With my oldest, her dad passed away when she was 8 months so I was the only parent and I was EXTREMELY strict at first so she got it that when I said something, I meant it. After the first few times I never had to back anything up because she knew when I told her to do or stop doing something, I was NOT playing around.

I have an 8 year old daughter that acts like she is 18. She tells me all the time, "I am not a little baby". She doesn't understand that she still is a little girl. I am not sure how to deal with it, I was hoping others had posted comments on this subject.
