Does anyone know of a good way to get gum out of a sock or should I just throw the sock away. I don't know how it happened but when I went to get the clean clothes out of the dryer the other day I found a sock stuck to the bottom of the dryer with gum. It wouldn't have surprised me as much if the gum had been in a pocket but how did it get in a sock!?!? Oh well, life with kids offer constant surprises.

Have you tried orange oil? That stuff gets out all kinds of sticky things. It REALLY smells like oranges, but it might get the gum out. It might even still smell like oranges after you was it too. It's oil so I'd pre-wash it in the sink with dish liquid to cut through the oil.

Rubbing peanut butter on the gum dissolves the gum and gets it out. Of course you have the peanut butter to wash off later.

I've read that if you put ice on things, the gum should come out. If you don't have time for that, maybe just throw the sock in the freezer and try to pick of the pieces of frozen gum. Good luck. :)
