My son was diagnosed with Hirschprungs Disease when he was 2 days old. My husband and I felt at a total loss. It was something that we had never heard of, and when we researched it, it sounded like we would be losing our son. And after a lot more research, come to find out that a lot of web sites scare the bejezzers out of you!
I found that we (here in Canada) really didn't have much to go on, we don't have any real doctors specializing in this disorder, we might have great general sergions, but thats all we have to go on.
I felt like I had no where to turn or even to ask other parents advice in Canada. Fortunately, my doctor introduced me to another mommy whose child has hirschprungs as well. I found it a great relief to be able to discuss with her the never ending diaper rash situation or the delayed potty training, or even how the heck this happened!
I felt it was time that other moms in the area should be able to connect to other moms in the same situation. And not feel like they are the only ones going through it.
So I hope mommies in the ottawa- gat. area feel comfy enough to join the group, and share your stories.

I live in Michigan, (Iknow that's not what you are looking for) my daughter was not diagnosed until she was 20 months old. We went through diagnosis after diagnosis even to the point of the lovely ( I say that sarcastically) doctors at U of M telling me that I was making her formula wrong. She has now had upwards of 9 surgical procedures and she is going on 8 years old. I have never met another person who's child had any form of Hirschprungs let alone short segment like my daughter. We had no luck with doctor's until we finally found someone we liked at childrens hospital in Detroit. I don't know if that is somewhere you could look into since canada and detroit border eachother but if so let me know I'll give you the name and number of the man we see.
