Our son was born at 32 weeks, he was 4 lbs 13 oz and 18 1/2 inches long. He had to stay in the NICU for 17 days because he couldn't hold his body temp, but he is 9 months old today and LOVES to play and run around in his walker =) you would never know he was early!!

My name is Amber. Logan was born 25 weeks and 3 days weighing 1 pound 12 oz and 13 inches long. So far he has a good heart rate but has a murmur (which i'm told is normal). His oxygen is okay but right now he's on a vent due to surgery he had for NEC. He is officially 2 weeks old today and they are going to feed him a little for the first time since they discovered the NEC.

I'm Sarah. My son was born 11 days ago at 28 weeks 2 days. He was only born early because when I was 17 weeks pregnant they found out I had a very large aneurysm in my heart. At 28 weeks 2 days, they did a routine echo of my heart and discovered my aorta had a tear in it. So within an hour, I was having an emergency C-Section and open heart surgery to repair my heart. Jonah was 2lbs 12.5oz and was 15 3/8 inches long. He's 2#10.3 oz today and doing great. He was on a ventilator only briefly, he outperformed it. I have two other children, Aaron is almost 7 and Noah will be a year old on February 7.

My name is Lynn and I have 3 boys, 2 of which were preemies. Brayden was born at 36 weeks and has severe asthma at 6 years old. Carter was born at 33 weeks and is now 3.5 months old and very healthy!! We spent at week in the NICU with Bryaden and 3 weeks with Carter. It is an experience that only other preemie mothers can relate to. It is nice to read about you all and see your beautiful babies :)

Hi everyone my names Leila, I've got 6 children, my 1st baby was late, my 2nd pregnancy was a bit complicated, I started bleeding at 6 weeks and thought I was going to miscarry, so they gave me a scan & said I had a heamatoma in my womb (he had slipped down and caused a tear on my womb lining), I then started bleeding when I was 4 months and thought he wasn't going to make it, so I went for another scan which showed I had another heamatoma in my womb, at 32 weeks my waters broke, so I was rushed to our local hospital, they gave me a drip to stop the contractions & kept me in, at 32 weeks and 5 days my contractions started up again & the hospital had no incubaters in neo~natel so they were trying to find me a hospital that had an incubater, they got us in to one which was 2hours away so they rushed me to that one in an ambulance, my huband wasn't allowed in the ambulance so we got my uncle to drive him there, when I got there my contractions slowed down and they sent my husband home, my contractions came back 2 hours later so they called my husband but he couldn't get back to the hospital as it was 4 am and didn't drive. An hour later Joshua was born 7 weeks premature, he weighed 4 lbs 8 oz, after 3 days at that hospital we were transferred back to our local hospital by a special ambulance that held incubators~he was in neo~natal unit for 4 weeks which was a very long time for me, I hated leaving him in there & at times thought he was never going to come home. He is now 7 years old

My third pregnancy was complicated too, I started bleeding when I was 6 weeks on christmas day, on boxing day I had a miscarriage, I went for a scan on the 29th Dec to make sure everything was ok only to discover I was carrying twins so they told me to take it easy, again at 3 months I started bleeding so I had another scan, they told me I had a heamatoma in my womb. At 24 weeks my waters broke! The hospital explained that if he was born now there was no chance he was going to make it so they kept me in for 2 weeks, I went home but had to be monitered every day to check my babys heartbeat and make sure he wasn't getting distressed, at 35 weeks my contractions started, Zak was born 5 weeks early weighing 5 lbs 4 oz but luckily he didn't have to stay in neo~natal, we stayed in for 3 days and he had to be checked regulary and go for blood level tests, he is now 5 yrs old

My 4th pregnancy she came on her due date it was found I had strep b earlier in my pregnancy which was caused from premature labour ,so I had to be treated for it during my labour with a drip


My sixth pregnancy was really easy with no morning sickness or anything I gave birth to Leanna 3 weeks early she weighed 5lbs 3 oz and is now 4 weeks old and weighs 6 lbs 7 oz

Hi to all mums of prems. My name is Aimee and i have 3 children all preemie's with a fourth on the way who has a cleft lip/palate we are praying will not be early. First daughter was 5lbs 1oz at 36 weeks who they said was growth retarded a week before labour started, no problems what so ever and not growth retardation as they had said and left 3 days after birth with me. Second daughter was 4lbs who passed during early labour at 32 weeks due to infection and son 5lbs 7oz born at 36 weeks who spent 10 days in SCN due to sucking problems. Both my daughter and son are healthy children with no long term problems and who don't get sick anymore than full term's we know :)They were a little slow off the mark but have now caught up fully and are on the highest percentile lines for their ages. We are still unsure on what causes the early labours Dr's have suggested many things but still have no straight answer. I'm now 30 weeks with son no.2 and have a deep worry that this will be no different as the little signs I had with the others are happening all over but are taking comfort knowing he is a very healthy little guy besides his cleft and is putting on weight like fire compared to the others who lagged a bit during pregnancy so he might be the exception. Its great to have groups like this to share support and stories. Good luck to all past and future preemie mum's

Hello Everyone, My name is Deb. I am a mother of 4 children. My son, Bryce, was born 2 months early and weighed a healthy 5lbs. 2oz. (Sept 19,2009). He did have to spent time in the hospital which was very difficult with three other children at home. He is now 6 months old and weighs 18.5 lbs. I was told NOT to have any more children (we were finished anyways)! Thank you Sara for starting this group!

Hello, My name is Nikki I have 3 children my boy was born 5 weeks preemature and weighed 5 lbs. 12 ozs. and we spent 5 days in the hospital but now he is a healthy 4 year old. My new baby Cassandra was born on December 3 2009 at 7 weeks premature and weighed 2 lbs. 12 ozs. We had many complications during pregnancy and she finally just quit growing. She was perfecly healthy other than her weight. We spent 29 days in the hospital waiting on her to gain weight and came home on January 1st. She weighed 3 lbs. 13 ozs when we came home. She will be 4 months old tomorrow and weighs 7 lbs. 14 ozs. She is such a miracle.

I'm Caroline and my son Adam was born at 34weeks weighing 4lbs 11oz - quite a good weight for 6 weeks early but to us he was still tiny and it was a bit scary at first.
He's nearly 5 months now and is just thriving - doing so so well - he does suffer from reflux but apart from that he's great. It was a natural birght and like you sara pretty quick - i had no contractions just mild pains & when i was examined i was fully dilated and he was born 1hr 48 mins later.

Hey Everyone! I am a first time mom as well and my son Aidan was born at 30 weeks weighing just 3 lbs and being 15.5 inches long. He had to stay in the NICU for 5 weeks and was only 5lbs when he came home. Today Aidan is a healthy 9 month old( as of the 8th of March) and weighs 19lbs. He is doing so great, he can sit up unassisted, can pick up cheerios and eat them, can say dada and is getting his first two teeth at the same time. He cannot crawl yet, but we are working on that everyday:) I am really excited to have new moms that have preemies to talk to so I can see where other preemies are in the development. It is sometimes really hard when your friends have full term babies and they are doing stuff yours is not, so to have some moms who understand is wonderful:)

Hi. My name is Amanda. My daughter, Sophia, was born at 28 weeks and weighed 1 lb 13 oz 13 in long. She was in the NICU for two months and recently came home on meds and an apnea monitor. She is wonderful and is growing everyday. As for my birthing experience...well I don't remember any of it. The last thing I remember is having severe pain on my upper right side. The rest of the story is according to my husband. My BP sky rocketed and the dr delivered, I wouldn't clot so I was flighted out to a bigger city because of the complications that I had. I was diagnosed with HELLP Syndrome and my organs began to shut down. I was put under for two weeks during which several surgeries were performed. I didn't even know that I had her when I woke up. Knowing she was alive and well helped me get through the pain and helped me persevere. God is great and Sophia is our little miracle.

Howdy to everybody, my name is Mary. I'm also a first time mommy of a premature baby. My daughter Billey was born 2 months early, was weighed in at 3lbs. 3oz. and had to stay in the NICU for 43 days. She only had to be on tube oxygen for about 2 days and then it was a roller coaster for a little while, but we got through it. She is now 2 yrs. old and weighs 23lbs. and 9oz. Everyone always tells me, gosh you would never know that she was a preemie. Billey is such a happy little girl and a bowl of fire. I'm glad that we have her and love the dickens out of her. Mary ;-D

Hey all I'm Tasha and I'm 19, I'm a first time mummy and I had my baby girl Lilli-mai at 34weeks via emergency c-section she weighed 4lb 6oz, was 48cm long and was in neonatal for 2weeks. I'd had a problematic pregnancy, starting with hyperemesis then passing out all the time, at around 28weeks I was diagnosed with an irritated uterus which was extrememly painful and I was in and out of hospital, they also found that Lilli-mai had started to teeter off the growth chart (she was about 3weeks behind). They admitted me for a week when I was around 30weeks, I had steroid injections and a drip to try and prevent early labour, they also tried various medications to stop the irritated uterus, none of which worked. When I was discharged I had to keep going back for scans to check her growth and to see if the irritated uterus was affecting my cervix. The hospital told me that I would not carry her full term and I would have to have her via c-section as she was breech and there was not enough fluid for her to turn/be turned. I ended up back in hospital on the 26th November 2009 with excruciating pain on my right hand side, the midwives at the hospital simply strapped me on the CTG monitor and told me it was just my uterus playing up again, they put me on pethidine to try and help me sleep (which didnt work!!) and told me I would be discharged in the morning. On Friday the 27th November 2009 I was about to be discharged when the consultant on duty (who knew my case) demanded I was sent for a scan as the pain was on the same side as the placenta and at the scan I was told there was placental abruption and I was rushed back down to the materntity unit for an emergency c-section, by 14.58pm Lilli-mai was in the world. If it hadnt have been for the consultant demanding that I was sent for a scan me and Lilli-mai would both be dead.

Lilli-mai is now 12weeks and 5days old and she's about 7lb 5oz, she has no health problems, has her last feed at 6:30pm, gets put to bed at 7:30pm and doesnt wake until 7am the next day and she's a complete pleasure to have :-)

Hi everyone, my name is Holly and also a first time mommy to a preemie. My son Nathan was born at 31 weeks 4 days and weighed 3lbs 10oz. My water broke at 2am and because we were stationed in Atsugi, Japan our Navy hospital did not have a NICU! So I was sent to a Japanese hospital where they tried to prolong my pregnancy to at least 32 weeks so that his lungs would develop more. Unfortunately, my baby was under distress and was not responding to the tests they run so I underwent an emergency c-section and he was out at 10:30pm that night. He stayed at the NICU for two and a half months due to Japanese policy to keep them to full term. And thankfully, he left with a minor case of GERD and a small 2mm ASD. He is now 7 months old and 16lbs and definitely more than a hand full when he's awake. =)

Hello everyone, my name is Hayley and I'm a mum to premmie twins Caitlyn & Ben. They were born 25 weeks & 5 days into my pregnancy (nearly 4 months early) on 18 July 2008. Caitlyn was a tiny 625g & Ben was 700g. They spent 113 days in hospital (approx 4 months) - 3 months in NICU & 1 month in Special Care. My pregnancy was reasonably smooth sailing until 25 weeks when I was admitted to hospital with bleeding & my obstetrician raised concerns about prem labour. I was discharged 4 days later & told I was past the worrying stage & that "everything should be fine". The very next day, I was laying on the lounge & went into labour. Unbelievable! It was a long journey for all of us but they now are almost 10kgs each & doing brilliantly. Friends & family who have joined us on our journey cannot believe their progress - and nor can we! It's just amazing to see how far they've come from such a fragile start.

hey everyone my name is holly and my little boy's name is Odin James. He was born at 26 weeks on september 3rd 2009 and weighed 976grams. i had a really easy pregnancy, no complications only a little morning sickness until i started to get cramping and spotting a couple of days before i gave birth to odin. i went to the hospital and they told me to go home and that it was probably just a urinary tract infection. the next morning i was getting really painful cramping so i went back to the hospital and they were goin to send me home again until they rang my obstetrician and he told them to do a speculum on me and to everyones surprise i was 2 cm dilated. i was then rushed by ambulance(sirens and all) to the nearest NICU hospital where i gave birth to odin naturally at 6.41am the next morning. all up i was in labour for about 27 hours.there were about 20 doctors in the room with me half for odin and half for me. when he came out i saw him for 2 minute then he was rushed to the nicu. he was so small we used to call him the quail, i got my first kangaroo cuddle about 2 1/2 weeks after he was born. all up he was in the nicu for 3 1/2 months then in special care for 3 weeks. We took him home on january 8th 2010, he has chronic lung syndrome due to being on the ventilator for over a month so he is on home oxygen which the doctors expect him to be on for approx 4 months. other then that he is beautiful happy little man.

I am the mother of 4 wonderful kids, my first three were full term babies with no complications the oldest being 19 years now. there is 10 years difference between my last two. I was 33 yrs old when I gave birth to my youngest on July 21,2005 and he was 6 weeks early and weighed only 4 lbs 15 oz and 17 in. long and he is definetly my miracle baby. Our story is kind of a long one. I had braxton hix contractions the whole pregnancy. I was pretty miserable but my doc kept saying everything was normal and done only 1 pap smear the whole pregnancy (and I know those things are horrible but they serve a very important purpose and if the doc had of done them we could've avoided some of the horrible complications we had) As the pregnancy progressed I felt worse and worse I got so bad that I would only get up to go to the restroom. About 14 days before I had him I noticed a brown discharge and told the doc and he would always say everything is normal because I had given birth to 3 children already and that was the reason for the braxton hicks contractions too. I had been to the emergency room several times too, I was also losing weight instead of gaining when I had Russell I weghed only 101 lbs, and like the doc said it was all because i already gave birth to 3 kids. July 20 When I got out of the bed I felt my water break so I called my husband who was out of town because he is a truck driver, later that day I realized I had not felt Russell move all day, and when my husband got home he rushed me to the hospital and the nurse actually checked me this time and said my water had def broke, and she called the doc which in turn told her to stop the labor because it was raining , so the next morning he finally came in, and sent my husband to get ready because I was going to have to have a c-section. Well it ended up an emergency C-section, they put me to sleep and delivered my baby and when I woke up I got to touch his little foot, and they sent him to another hospital 2 hours away. For 4 days I was seperated from my baby. They said I had a bad infectionand didn't say wat it was. When I was finally able to go be with my baby at the NICU at UAB in Birmingham Alabama, I was sitting in front of his little incubator when the pediatrician came in and his nurse was reading off what was wrong with my baby she said and this is the one that tested positive for e-coli, I just about fell off my chair. And one time me and my husband was sitting with him and his records was left on his little incubator and it said he was blue and not breathing when he was born and they gave him CPR for 30 min. and I've heard after 15 min it's unethical to continue with CPR because there will be brain damage. Russell is now 4 1/2 years old . He's still kinda small for his age and has done everything late but God is so good and he is healthy and normal. The brown discharge was merconium my water had broke and was slowly leaking, and I believe thats wat gave us e-coli. God is still working miracles.

Hello. My name is joany and I'm also a mommy of a premature baby, also my first born. My baby boy, was born at 31 weeks and 5 days, weigh 3 lbs. 8 oz. and 18inch long and spent 17 days in the NICU. Hi, my name is Meg. I'm also a first time mama of a premi.
My daughter, Peyton, was born at 36w0d, weighing 5.5lbs and she was 18in long.
At 11wks, they found she had Gastroschisis. (where the intestines and stomatch are on the outside) She had two surgeries by the time she was 5 days old, and spent 4wks in the NICU, then moved to her own room for an aditional 4wks.
She is now 11mo, weighing 18lbs, and is like any other babe. The only difference is her scar, which is part of her belly button..so it's almost like she doesn't even have one.

HI Everyone, I'm Sue 33, My Son ( Bryton Phillip) was Premature and he was 6 weeks early. They don't know why it happened . He is doing great he was born day after christmas December 26th 2008 5lbs 110z, He was Due Feb 2nd 2009.. He was in NICU for over 8 days, Has GERD ( Acid Reflux Disease) and He was born with Beathing Issues, But never put on machines for it.. But put on watch for beathing issue. But he dose reflux so bad to this day it gose back in his lungs at times when he is sleeping and is on machine with meds in to get that out of his lungs. And we was told he has a mild case of Ashtma, And we are to watch him as he grows do to the strong history of Ashtma in our family ( mine and my husbands).. He had alot of issues feeding couldn't keep his forumla down at all at the hosptial so they put him on no milk one and it worked utnil we got home and he started puking up again. So took him to a doctor here in my home town that I trusted with my son but after what i been put though i'm so sorry i took him there I believe she did more harm to him. After he had puked and puked I asked his lung specialist to send me to a new doctor up where he was that took my insurances.. And to my and my husband and my mother surprise after other doctor wouldn't change his forumla or do anything but keep giving him meds for GERD and that is all it was I was just stressing out over nothing. and In June 2009 New doctors changed his forumla few times and he puked on them so many times and on calls i put in of him screaming in the middle of the nite puking .. I was sent to a specialist a GI . Where they did some changes and ran a scope on him UPPER GI where to our surpise they found out why he was so sick and had puked over 9 1/2 months . We was told bryton had Celiac Disease.. Which is where you can have anything flour or wheat in it . He is on a Glutin free diet and Milk and Soy free diet. Because he can't have them either make him puke also. He on this special forulma called Elecare that cost over 60.00 a 14oz can. But all this is working and he hearlthly as he can be and is 13 months old now and is working and playing great. Doctor did tell us he would be a little guy. But it is ok he healthly as he can see just going to be little and tiny. I'm gald to be here with you all and share my story and read all of your stories. hello everyone im also a first time mom of a premature baby. My son name is criss angel born dec 22 2009. He was 5 weeks early weighed 6ibs 13oz big for a prime was 18 1/2 inches long.He was in the nicu for 4 days and was able to come home a day after me.. NoW he is 1month and 2 weeks old and is 11ibs and 3oz and 21 inches long.. he is growing so fast..

Hi, my name is Shasta. I also am a first time mother of a premature baby. Kyler was born 4 weeks early. He was 6.2 pounds and 19.5 inches long. He took his first breath to soon and ended up getting pneumonia. He had to stay in the nicu for 15 days. We got to hold him for about 5 minutes before they took him from us and didn't get to hold him again until day 8. Very hard beginning. But now he is almost 7 months old and weighs 19 pounds and is 27 inches long. The doctor can't even believe it is the same baby.

Hi everyone, my name is shabana. I am 1st time mama of premature Triplets 2 girls identical and a boy fraternal. Born on 20th April 2009 they where born on 32 week gestation was my due date was 16th june but triplets are tend to born on 35 week gestation or more early they are 10th month old now. Hi Everyone my name is Katie and I am a second time mom, my first son Max was full term, my second son Jackson on the other hand came 12 weeks early. The beginning of my pregnancy with Jackson was great until my 18 week ultrasound when they found that my cervix was already short, I then became a high risk patient and was seen weekly. My cervix stayed the same for the most part and they decided not to do a cerclage since my first son was term and then at 24 weeks my cervix drastically changed and I was admitted to the hospital on complete bedrest. I stayed in the hospital for 4 1/2 weeks on bedrest and then on November 13, 2009 Jackson decided he wanted to be born, I went into preterm labor at 28 weeks 3 days and there was no stopping it. I had to have an emergency c-section because his head was not fully engaged and they were afraid that the umbilical cord would come first. Jackson weighed 2lbs 13oz and was 14 1/4 inches at birth, he had a rough first few weeks in the NICU with being intubated, CPAP, sepsis evals, lumbar punctures and blood transfusions but after that he was a rock star preemie. He came home at 36 weeks and has been doing great, he is now almost 12 weeks old and weighs 8lbs 12.2 ounces he is our miracle baby. We are taking everything day by day and hoping for the best!

Hi, I'm Bec and I have two beautiful girls, Shelby and Tamsyn who were born at 33 weeks on 4th of December. Shelby was 4lb 6oz and Tamsyn was 5lb 3oz. Both girls spent 24 days in NICU before coming home but had no major problems. I suffered from pre-eclampsia and cholestasis during my pregnancy which meant i was admitted to hospital at 32 weeks after several weeks of close monitoring. I went into labour and at 2 centermetres dialated suffered a cord prolapse so was immediately rushed in for an emergency c-section. Within an hour of my daughters being born I was rushed to a another hospital under the belief I had toxic infection and had a further 2 surgeries to repair bleeds. After 3 days in their ICU I returned to my babies hospital where I finally got to meet my bubbas. Over the next 2 weeks i had alot of further complications but through sheer determination i recovered and finally made it home with my girls. They are now 9 weeks and very healthy.

Hello everybody, my names jessica im a first time mommy of twins boy and girl haydn and natalia they were born 4 weeks earlie haydn weighed 4lbs 8 oz he was 18 1/2 inches natalia weighed 4lbs 4 oz she was 18 1/4 inches long they was born 5-12-09.I got to have my babygirl right away she stayed in the room with me the first night and with her brother the second night. Haydn I didnt get to hold until he was 3 days old he had to spend 2 weeks in the nicu due to still having fluid in his lungs. Natalia had to stay for 2 days becouse she decided she didnt want to eat, but after they put that tube in her nose she wanted to eat then.lol. Having to leave the hospital without my lil ones was i think the hardest thing i ever had to do i spent 90% of my time visting the hospital was only home long enough to shower. i would take natalia with me and they would put her in the incubater with him and i believe it helped alot. unforturnly i had to have a c section since my lil girl wanted to curl up in my ribs and not move. :( now they are 8 month and 3 weeks and so big haydn started pullin himself up and tryin to walk at 7 months cut his first two teeth at 6 months and crawled at 5 months natalia on the other hand is prissy lol she doesnt like to do anything for herself unless she has to as far as holding her bottle and things like that. she is standing and tryin to walk she started about 7 1/2 months she hasnt cut any teeth yet in a lot of ways she is behind compared to haydn but shes learning.haydn now weighs 24lbs and is 26 1/2 inches tall natalia is now 18 lbs 26 3/4 inches tall. lookin at them now you would never guess they were preemies. I love them to death even thou it is hard at times with 2 i wouldnt change a thing.

Hi my name is Kylie. I gave birth to triplets at 23 weeks and 4 days. We had been trying to have a baby via IVF for 4 1/2 years. At 17 weeks we found that we were having boys Jacob and Shannon (identical twins) and Jared. It was at this time that we found out that Jacob the smaller of the twins had a cleft lip and palate and mild to severe fluid on the brain. After further scans and an MRI at 19 weeks we found out that the fluid was now extremely severe and that he had no frontal lobe. It was at this time we were told the most heart breaking news for his outcome and the life threatening possibilities our other 2 babies would face if we didn't consider putting our little man to sleep. At 22 weeks and 3 days for the sake and survival of our remaining 2 babies we had to make this horrible decision and let our baby Jacob go. Mind you, it wasn't an easy procedure. We just happened to have the best Doctor in the world do this procedure but we had been the most further in gestation that he had performed this on, we were told that there was a very likely chance that we could miscarry all our babies, the pregnancy could all of a sudden come on and at this gestation still lose all our babies or we could be very lucky and still be pregnant once it was over. Fortunately for us he performed a miracle and I still had 2 of my triplets. Then at 23 weeks I went in for a check up to find my cervix was extremely short, Shannon's head in position and was admitted straight into hospital on bed rest. From here on it was all about delaying the pregnancy with all sorts of medication and a couple of steroids for the boys lungs. Unfortunately my waters broke at 23 wks 2 days and I was in and out of labour for the next couple of days. The first born was our miracle Shannon weighing a tiny 640 gms an then a couple of hours later his 2 brothers were born side by side. Jared weighing 565 gms and Jacob(sleeping) a tiny 410gms. Shannon and Jared were rushed off instantly, Jared had a whole in each lung and seamed to be doing it hard and Shannon was doing pretty good. Shannon perforated his bowel at 5 days old and needed bowel surgery which knocked him about a bit. Jared was also showing signs of bowel troubles but all we could do was watch and wait. Sadly at 12 days old we yet again had to make the painstaking decision to let another of our beautiful boys go as he was doing it so tough and young Jared is now resting with his brother. Shannon was to endure in his 162 day stay in hospital: a grade 3 out 4 brain bleed damaging part of his cerebellum, a whole in his heart which thankfully closed itself, a viral infection at 54 days old, jaundice of prematurity, chronic lung disease, anaemia, 9 blood transfusions,2 platelet transfusion, 2 bowel surgeries, 2 laser eye surgeries, 1 hernia surgery and 1 surgery to reconnect part of his bowel.He spent 162 days in hospital, 117 of them in NICU. He is 16 1/2 months or 12 1/2 months corrected. We have Physio/Occupational Therapy every week sometimes fortnightly to help with his strength/ fine motor skills, learning to sit and learn new textures. We have just had him sized up for a standing frame which will be great. He also has Speech every other week to help with his oral aversion and eating or lack there of. lol
He amazes us every day with his strength and couldn't be happier with his progress because at the end of the day it's progress and they weren't even sure of what he would and wouldn't be able to do.
As for his outcome we are waiting on results from his MRI of the head and as for his development we just take it one day at a time and celebrate each new milestone.

Hello, my name is Evalee. I'm a first time mom of a premature little girl, Maggie. I was induced at 35 weeks due to pre eclampsia. She was 5 lbs 14 oz and 19 inches long. She stayed in the NICU for a week just for observation and to make sure she was latching properly. We were very lucky and she had an apgar of 9 and so she didn't have to be put in an isolate or be hooked up to any machines. She's now 7 months and weighs 13 lbs 10 oz and is thriving.

Hi everyone, my name is shabana. I am 1st time mama of premature Triplets 2 girls identical and a boy fraternal. Born on 20th April 2009 they where born on 32 week gestation was my due date was 16th june but triplets are tend to born on 35 week gestation or more early they are 10th month old now. My1st girl, Areebah born 11.10pm weighed 3lbs 6 oz and 40 cm in lenght and 2nd boy Areeb was born 11:11pm weighed 4lbs 5oz and 45.5 cm in lenght and 3rd girl Laaibah was born 11:12 pm weighed 3lbs 8oz 41 cm in lenght they where born through C- section they all where in NICU touch wood thanks to god they all are with me and my hubby....enjoying each and every moments lots of fun with 3 babies.....

Hello, my name is Liss. My first baby was born at 32 weeks, nov.23. Now he´s 2 months. His weigh was 3 pounds and 1 oz. He spent 22 days in the hospital. His name is Alejandro and now he is very healthy. Now he is weighing almost 8 pounds.
My pregnancy was good, althougth I´m 42 years old.

Hi Everyone!! My Baby Girl Emily was born 2 Weeks early on the 17th November. She was born by Emergency C Section as she was destressed in my womb. I was leaking fluid every day when I went to the toliet and never realised it. She weighted 4lbs 7ozs when born, she had to stay in Neo-Natal Unit in Hospital for 10 days. Emily is now 10 weeks and weights 10lbs 4ozs... She is on Special Formula for Low Birth Weight Babies. Has check up next week in the hospital, just to check she is doing ok....

Hi, my name is Mandi ~ first time mommy to Jaxon, who was born 6 weeks early and spent 3 weeks in the NICU. He was 5 lbs, 6 oz when he was born and is now (at 9 months old) 18 pounds. Initially he was in the NICU because his lungs hadn't fully developed and he didn't have the surfectant yet to keep them from sticking together, but after a dose of the artificial stuff his lung issues were taken care of, luckily. That took all of 2 days and he spent the rest of the following 3 weeks working on his "suck, swallow, breathe" reflex and learning to drink through a bottle, versus eating through a feeding tube.

Since he came home from the hospital, we've been lucky and not had any medical issues of any sort, but still attend a preemie clinic to see a specialist and occupational therapist every couple of months just to stay on top of things that could pop up.

Hey everyone, my name is Megan. I am a first time mother of Madison. She was 6 weeks early due to preeclampsia. She was born on thanksgiving after a long week of getting betamethasone and then being induced, but thankfully I was able to deliver her naturally. She was 5lbs 6 oz. and 17 inches long. She stayed in NICU for 2 weeks, they were worried about her lungs and making sure she was able to gain weight. She is doing great and I have our 2 month check up next week. I can't wait to see how much she weighs now. She is still tiny cause she still is in newborn clothes and even some of those are big.

Hi everyone...My name is Becky. I am a mother to three beautiful children, two of them were preemies. My oldest was born 5 weeks early. He weighed 6 lbs 5 oz. He did spend a week in the Special Care unit because after birth he stopped breathing. He is now a healthy 5 year old. My middle daughter was my micro-preemie. She was born at 24 weeks and 1 day gestation. She was 1 lb 9 oz when she was born. She spent almost 4 months in the NICU unit. She is now a healty little 4 year old. She has suffered from no complications from her early birth. She is our Miracle child. We also have one more daughter that was born full term and is now 2 years old.

hi im kayleigh,i am a first time mummy to a premmie. harley thomas mason was born 5 weeks early weighing 6lb 2oz. He luckily didnt have to go in to NICU but we did have to stay in hospitaljust over a week for transnatal care.
i was in slow labour three days, and active labour for ten hours i was pushing for 2 and a half hours with no pain relief before the dr decided i need help, he was delivered by forceps using just gas and air, and i had to be cut three times, it took an hour and a half to stitch me back up
He is now 7 weeks and last time he was weighed (just under a week ago) he was 8lb 8.5oz.

Hi everyone. My name is Tracey. I am a first time mum to Ashton Michael who was born @ 32 week via emergency c-section due to pre eclampsia & HELLP sydrome on the6th of November 2009. It was a crazy time for us as my partner was very sick & had just had surgery as well. Ashton weighed exactly 4 pounds & was 43.2cm long. He spent 6 days in NICU & almost 6 weeks in SCN. He had a few issues like desating & bradycardia which eventually resolved. We got him home after 49 days on Christmas Eve which was wonderful! He is packing on the kilos at 8 pounds (1 week ago) thanks to his comfort feeding bcus he suffers from quite severe reflux. We have tried many things & he is on losec & we have just started taking him to a chiropractor. I hope it helps. So aside from the feeding issues & major sleep deprivation - things are going well. :)

Hello my name is Ebonie I had a 26 week 5 day preemie in September of 08 his birthweight was 2lbs 3ozs ll inches He was an emergency delivery due to infection setting in the uterus...My story is a long story but the outcome is surely a miracle...My son is now 1 year 4 months young and he has no preemie issues (vision problems, breathing difficulties, motor skills delay, ect)...I wish I would've had this page as I went through 59 days in the NICU but I had the support of family, Nicu staff and Nicu moms

Hello. I'm Liz and my twins were six weeks early. My son, Ayden, was 4 pounds 10 ounces and 18 inches long on June 8th, 2008. My daughter, Mikaela, was 3 pounds 12 ounces and 17 inches long. My son had to stay in the hospital for eight days, and my daughter had to stay in the hospital for 12 days.

Ayden was born with underdeveloped lungs, and had jaundice. But once he was off the respirator and oxygen he's been healthy ever since. He's now 26 pounds and 34 inches.

Mikaela had weight gain issues and had to stay in the hospital because of that. She also had jaundice. She is now 25 pounds and 31 and a half inches.

Hi my name is Celina..by baby girl Carelina was 6 weeks early, she was 4 lbs. 9 oz., 19 in., I had to have her by c-section. My blood pressure went out of control I had to be life flighted to a larger hospital that could care for the both of us when they took her out. She was born on 12/28/08 and wasn't released from the hospital until January 16, 2009..I was released from the hospital a week earlier. But now we are both doing good. Carelina is now 1 years old and doesn't seem to have any developmentally delays. This is my first child that I had by c-section and that was early..I have other baby's that were small but not early. I am thankful to the doctors and nurses at the hospital that cared for us. My situation was life or death and my blood pressure kept raising even after the delivery, but I am thankful to god for allowing me to continue to live to see my baby grow into this beautiful little human-being and the joy she has brought to her siblings.
