The schools are getting more crowded the closer you get to the oil patch. Williston schools are busting at the seams. I was born in raised in Fargo, and we generally don't have bad schools in our cities and larger towns. The population explosion has been a factor in the past couple years out west. So, you have a choice: be closer to where your husband works, and put up with crowded schools, or live a little further out for smaller class sizes and more affordable housing. I would go with the latter, at least for a couple of years until the infrastructure can catch up with the growth. I hope this helps:)

Hi i live in Idaho currently. My husband is working in Williston. We are planning on moving there to North Dakota in a few months after our 5th baby is born. What are some suggestions of decent, affordable places to live? I've considered Minot, Dickinson, Bismarck,Sydney, Mt. I want to live somewhere there are decent schools. Any help you could give would be appreciated.

LOL! I grew up in this boring state. There definately is a different way of life here. Where do you live I could probably give you tips on stuff to do. There is not alot of shopping but there are other thingto do. If you like outdoor stuff. I live in Bismarck but recently moved from WIlliston. I am having a hard time meeting people here too.

Just moved to Richardton to be with my husband who has been here almost 3 years. Have two little boys and I feel your pain there is nothing to do here at all. Hoping to meet some girl friends soon.
