Hi everyone. I'm glad I found this group... I don't know anyone else IRL whose husband or partner works in the oil field. One of the women in my knitting group's husband is an ice road trucker...that's the closest thing though. My husband works in Prudhoe Bay and is gone for 3&3s (used to be 4&2s, but those don't work for us). I keep busy by hanging out with friends & knitting (also I'm on Ravelry a lot, lol, that place is addicting!). Also I'm a bit of an introvert so I don't mind being alone, I find it refreshing.

I live in Fairbanks, Alaska--anyone else live there? It might be nice to meet some new people. :)

My DH works for Parker Drilling on the Slope, but we live in Southern UT. I asked DH if he wanted to move to AK and he was like "NO!!!!!" He like being near his family so he can go four-wheeling, and hunting! So I am happy where ever. But sometimes I wish we lived there just cause the travel is a pain. Good Luck finding closer buddies.

I'm in Anchorage. My dh works 2/2 on the slope. He also is commercial fisherman. I think he's away 34 +\- weeks out of the year. One of our sons in a slope worker, too. He's on the same schedule as dh, so they see each other up there sometimes.. Two of our other kids (ds & ds-in law) work in the boat with him during fishing season. The littlest guy & I hold down the fort--he plays baseball, football & does scouts. It's been this way our entire married life...it's ok when there's enough $$ for me to take a trip or two to visit family outside...got one at university & one almost there, so the funds aren't flowing too freely.
