My husband is headed to Galveston, as I write this, by boat. He normally works 4/2, or 6/3 or whatever the boss wants. He has been to Saudi and Israel already this year. He should be home in 14 days. (then we, just the two of us, are headed out of town for our anniversary, the 2nd one we have spent together in 12 years of marriage)

My husband works for W&T and leaves out of Intercoastal. We live in Missouri and he works 14/14. He is terrified of flying so he drives 14 hours to work.

My husband works for Sodexho. He leaves out from Abbeville, LA. We live in Alabama. He drives 5 1/2 hrs to work every 30 days. His rig will be moving soon to where he will leave out from New Orleans. That's about 3 hrs from our home.

Quoting JoDee: Sorry, it took me so long to reply. My husband did not want to be back in the Gulf - it's a terribly long story I'd have to tell in private, but he was indeed transfered back overseas in Oct. to Brazil and is on the Ocean Concord now. Paycheck is getting back to normal, and so is our routine thank goodness....this last year was really rough. My hubby worked in Australia for almost 3 years and loved it!  I would've considered living there too, but that never came up. But, I agree, I hate being cold!!!!  Good luck!! KIT!

Quoting Carolyn:

Yes, Mine is out of Pt Fourchon, LA right now 14/14 for Diamond Offshore on the Ocean Monarch. We live in SE Texas. He just got put back in the Gulf this Jan. - he was working overseas on 28/28 for 6 years.

What made him come back from overseas?  I know it's stressful, but they are doing lots of things with the Diamond rigs in the gulf right now.  My brother is in the Gulf w/ Diamond as well and goes out of Cameron, LA.  They are getting rid of all the jack-ups in the Gulf.  My brother barely beat the layoffs they just had and one of his friends that he has worked with since he started got laid off and my brother was moved to another rig.  I hope everything works out for yall.  My husband works in Australia on the Epoch.  He loves overseas and doesn't want to come back over here to the gulf.  We are thinking about moving over there to New Zealand.  But I am not finding any HOT places over there to live, not a cold weather person.  Good luck.

My husband works for hercules offshore.he was leaving from Cameron,La but he's going to port fourchon now.We live in SETX so Fourchon is quite a drive for us.Especially since the cutbacks. He made it through all of the layoffs so far(knock on wood) but they cut his pay WAY back. They're saying that after hurricane season that it should pick back up,but in the meantime he's put in an application at Transocean and Ensco. If anyone knows if either of them are hiring please let me know. He is an Assistant driller. Thanks so much and good luck to you all.

My husband was working for Hercules (previously TODCO) in the gulf until the rigs started stacking out. Now he is looking for work. We are fixing to be on welfare because he has been out of work since April and now all of our savings are gone and the oilfield is still down. If anyone knows of any jobs at all out there, my hubby has 20 + years experience with land and 3 offshore as an Assistant Driller. We currently live in San Juan, TX down by Brownsville

My hubby works out of intracoastal for Chevron and they have been fairing a little better than some companies. I don't know if your husband is familiar with them, but mine is a paramedic/safety man for a contract company out there. I pray that you find something soon!!!!!!

Our son has had some health issues, so my husband came back to the Gulf, but now we're waiting to head back overseas, cause that was always much better and so is our son. Waiting game isn't fun though. Good luck to you too!!!
