My husband just recently took a job pipelining. I have a daughter who is 12 and one on the way. We would like to travel with him. Here is my question for traveling families. What do you do with school age children? I was told we may move every 4-6 months or 3 years. It just depends on the job. I am wondering what the majority does. Do you make them switch schools every time you move? Do you homeschool? If so, do you find this challenging? Any advice regarding this is appreciated. Thanks in advance!

I am trying to start a group for pipeline wives on facebook. I like how groups are set up. Its easier to communicate. If you wanna join the group its https://www.facebook.com/groups/305667312886905/
Its rather small right now, but I really hope it grows. I think itd be a great way to vent our frusterations and share our journey as wives. :)

My husband is currently working the pipeline. We've been traveling with him as a family unit and are enjoying it immensely! The work has been pretty spotty this past year, but we're hoping things will start freeing up soon and there will be more work, more options, higher wages and more travel! There was a gap between his last job in Meeker, CO last fall until now. We spent approximately 8 months searching/waiting for a job to open up. He's currently employed with a company, but the work is on a smaller scale than what he desires. While not ideal, we've managed. We wish everyone here a prosperous season!!!!

My husband is a Pipeline Welder with his own rig and needs a job desperately!!! The dust is thick on the rig!
He is willing to go anywhere. It just seems that the Union has all the jobs that come available. He was invited to test but now they are not booking any tests at this time!Crazy!
We have applied all over, Antartica,Iraq,Saudi and even Offshore.
Thanks for listening.

My husband works on the oil rig in Mexico. He is gone month on month off. But on the month he is home he is also in the airforce. We have 3 kids, Not much time left for us between the oilfield and the airforce. I hate how much time the oilfield takes from us but love the paycheck that comes in.

My husband is a rig welder working out of Sidney, MT right now but a lot of the pipelines he has worked on are actually in ND. Our home is 8hrs away, so don't see him much. Thinking of moving over there since the outlook for work in that area looks good.

Mine too! but he's currently laid off AND laid Up! While laid off he had an unfortunate basketball accident and is having surgery to repair a torn achilles tendon and some other ligaments in his leg....now there is no hope of him going back on the road for another 3-4 months.....guess i'll be getting a second J O B! Oh well ya gotta love em!
