Just curious, I wanna know what they have for entertainment or to socialize, I know mine plays card games...I would go crazy! Do they tell you all the details of their life away from home?? My husband wants to know everything about us, but I've been doing so much talking I never thought to ask him what he does all the time! ha ha

When my husband is away he usually works very late, has tons of paper work. I do know he gets the TV to himself and quiet time to read.

I work with an International Inc 500 Wellness Company - I help other moms earn and income from home - www.workathomeunited.com/fhhc
I retired from Interior design after our 4 big move with my husbands work, needing to add to our income and allow us to pay off all our debt including our house I went looking for something that would allow me to work around my husband being out of town and the kids ...oh and the moving. It has been the best 5 years of my life :-)

It sounds like most of the hubby's do alot of the same things. Mine works a "12+" hr shift--when he gets up early enough ; he will try to go visit our grandsons and do his grocery shopping - grab something to eat. Sometimes I get a little jealous cuz he is gets to see the boys more than me but I know he needs some down time away from the rig so it is really okay. LOL-- He likes to play card games w/his $500.00 "deck" of cards. I am very lucky that he calls me everyday/or night--his last words everytime--"luv you" I am a very lucky woman.

Wow, Katie! How does your husband have energy to work out after a whole day at work?! I wish I had that energy, I could really use it!...My husband does laundry and then goes to dinner then calls me and the kids on Skype. Sounds boring but it works for us and cuts down on the drama we had before when he would go to the bar LOL.

Like most of your husbands/boyfriends My boyfriend Rich also works 14-18 hour days. Although there is the odd evening when he goes to the pub that is located in camp, he is usually too tierd to do anything! After he eats dinner he showers, calls home tells us he loves us (Layla and I) and goes to bed! I think there is a lot of wemon who take for granted the kind of work these men are doing, They work very hard! It must be so hard for them to be away from there children and wives. I know Rich is struggling a little right now, Layla is ony 3 1/2 weeks old he saw her for two days after she was born and went back to work. I love him for what he does and for supporting our family. As Jennifer said above there are some asses out there who would cheat on there spouses, but every relationship is different, as for me and Rich we trust each other!

I have read through some of the other replies and I understand how some men can act, but just want to assure some of you that I know some very strong, FAITHFUL men who work on these crews. My husband works on a land rig that is usually close to our home and MOST of the guys who work with him come over just to get away from work. I take food to them on location and am there frequently, so I do hear, see, and know more than a lot of women in these relationships. They talk about missing their wives or girlfriends and their children, and yes, even their mommas. There are some idiots in every crew, but you can't judge them all based on 1 or 2 guys' behaviour. After all, would we want them to assusme that just because a certain woman was cheating, we all are? I trust my husband... and believe that it is sad how many people think that is wrong.

My husband is a mudlogger and he is currently workingin oklahoma which is one man mudlogging crews so he has to work 24 hours a day stuck in a little bitty travel trailer BY HIMSELF for 2 to 3 weeks at a time. I feel sorry for him because all he has is the internet and tv...he doesn't get very good signal so when we talk we talk online mostly. He is always telling me about everything that goes on with the boys who are drilling. I have heard some CRAZY stories about the women that come out to the rig, I think a lot of things happen that they don't tell their girlfriends/wives (I guess I would just rather not know) when they are away because when you get a bunch of guys together by themselves for weeks a time no telling what they will do! I am just glad I can trust my husband and a part of me is glad that he can only leave the rig to run to the grocery store and has to go right back.

My husband is the driller and youngest on the crew so he likes to just get back to camp, eat, shower, call me and go to bed. He figures he has to be some what of an example to the other guys. Although his crew now is all drillers since things are slow so most of them do the same thing. They go out to dinner on Friday since its hump day for them. Thats about as exciting as it gets for them!

Hi Julie! And Sabrina.  Yep, I'm pretty sure that would have cost mine BIG!  We have a standing agreement.  Whatever he is permitted to do, I am permitted to do.  If he decides to run off to strip clubs and look at the meat case. . . .I am allowed the same privlege.  He's just jealouse enough to fear that his territory may be infringed upon.   I'm just ornery enough to insure that it would be.  We have been happily married for some time now and I know where his every penny is spent.  Funny thing is that whatever I may be interested in is probably going to be free for me. . .'cause I'm a woman.  serinaded here. .. You know the song..."I can bring home the bacon.. .."  Anyways.  I hope I lightened someone's load for awhile; however it will cost him endlessly.  : )

After my husbands off tower, he goes and gets a shower, something to eat, works out, then he calls me and tells me how his day went...explaining to me every detail of what they did the entire 12 hours he was on tower. He always asks me about my day and how things are going. We're only supposed to talk for 15 minutes, but we end up talking for at least 30...it's hard to just hold a conversation with someone for 15 minutes when you haven't seen them for 14 days.

My husband is on a rig in the middle of the ocean in Australia, he doesn't go out at night. He usually plays on his laptop or plays playstation or something, but he calls me everyday! I worry about him traveling and having an extra night in Australia, but other than that one night, he's in airports the whole time. I am a stay at home mom of our 3 wonderful children, and I wouldn't trade it for the world! I don't go out at all, and if I do go somewhere, it is a family place because I take all 3 kiddos. They worry about us just as much as we worry about them...trust each other!!!

atlast, some good old fashioned honesty!  I feel the same way!  It's hard not to wonder a little if and when they go out but then again i'm sure it eats them up just as well wondering what we are doing.  Especially when they are stuck on a rig in the middle of the ocean as my husband is.  My husband is the same way, he tells me everything the guys do.  I was shocked to hear what some of them are up to.  Even the ones who's wives I know and thought they were such "good family guys".  Truth is ladies, we don't know what they are doing, we only know what they tell us.  But again, that works both ways, it all boils down to trust.

He has to review paper work and make sure all the inspections are taken care of. He has to do paperwork for the main office on top of cement jobs adn working in with the welder. He is over almost everything on that rig. He makes time to call our daughter and I on the weekends. Other than that he is only emailing as I am sure the rest of you do also. I wish he had some free time. He goes to the gym on the rig when he gets the cance. He also does safety meeting and fire and abandon drills along with being the fire team leader. I am pretty sure he is a way over achiever but that is what we love about him

My hubby has been stuck in Louisiana for 2, going on 3, weeks.  They stay in a hotel, but since they work such long hours all he has time to do is get dinner, shower, and call for about 1/2 hour before heading to bed.  He's been working non-stop 7 days a week for the last two, going on three weeks, so he's really tired lately.  I really miss him and am not used ot him being gone so long.  The last company that his crew worked for had him working on three weeks off one, but he got to come home for the weekends.  That place was 2 1/2 hours away, and they would stay in apartments.  Now that business has slowed down they are catching jobs wherever they can, and Louisiana happened to be the place he was sent to this time.  The bad thing is that if he's not here by Thursday, he's going to miss the ultrasound where we find out the sex of our second child.  I'm dissappointed, but I just look at it as he's making a good ammount of money being gone so long.  We definitely need the money.  Anyway, I know that was WAY more than what he does at night, but I needed to vent. lol

Alisa, i'm sorry he'll miss this important u/s, perhaps you can have someone videotape it?   I try to tape or take as many pics of our boys and send them at the end of the day to him, i know our husbands don't like to miss all these important event but like you said, the money is good and that takes a lot of pressure off our lives specially now with the economy.   He is sacrificing a lot, we need to show we appreciate it too, and keep them posted.

My guys does a lot of hanging out in his hotel room.  If he is working with a good crew they might go out for a few drinks at the end of the day.  If he is in the mood he will head off to the casino if there is one around, but not very often thank god.  He is the supervisor on the job, so he usually has a good amount of paperwork at the end of the day to take care of and have in before they do morning meetings at the office.  He does do some on-line gaming as well to pass the time.  Other then that he calls home every night.

Anyway, I know that was WAY more than what he does at night, but I needed to vent. lol

My hubby works a 12 hrs shift ( not sure what shifts the other hubbys work), so when he is done with work he gets cleaned up, gets dinner, talks with us and he's ready for bed.  Sometimes he takes his laptop with him to watch movies and play games and he reads alot.  He is not one to go out to the bars, so that is good.  Every now and again he'll go out with some of the guys for dinner or a drink.  Working a 12 hr. shift doesn't leave much time for anything but sleep!
