My husband just started working over in North Dakota doing land surveying and plotting points. The only thing is he is gone 2-3 months at a time and them comes home for two weeks...we're trying to find a company where he can be home more often...I miss my husband greatly and so does are son. Does anyone know of a company that offers this kind of work schedule?

Ya, Montana isn't so close. There are often houses for rent in the paper... they're not cheap but I guess for what they are they're not so bad. We used to live in a house that was 4 bedrooms, 2 baths and it was 1800$ a month. Baker Hughes puts you up in a hotel for a month or two, though, while you search for housing. Also, in their dispatch office at the yard they work at in Dickinson there is always a long listing of rentals that the dispatch receptionist makes and updates.

Was it hard to find housing? Do you know of anywhere we could rent a house? I want to go around the first of the year. We were gonna move to Montana because we found a house but I just found out it's 3 hours away from Dickinson. So that's not going to work. Any ideas on housing?

Yeah, they do make a lot of money with overtime because it's soo easy to get overtime. I mean they always do! My so works like 80-100 hours a week. It's crazy. He left for work today at 5am and he still isn't home and it's 7:41pm now. Lately he's been gone 26-30 hours at a time. How come you guys decided to live in Montana vs ND? We live in Dickinson. He moved here a year and a half ago, and then I moved here 6 months after him.

Dickinson, ND. They had said around 100,000 per year. That is with a lot of overtime, of course. It's 14 days on 7 off. I am just hoping the pay is not bogus- they haven't said an exact rate yet. He took his drug test today and we have to wait for the background check. So we will no more in 14 days, I guess. We will be going with him, as long as the house in Montana pans out. If not- as soon as we get secure housing. I am in school and I have to wait for the semester to be over anyway (in Dec). Where do you live?

Congrats!! Where in ND will he be working out of my s/o really loves it. He doesn't particularly like ND, lol, but he loves his job. It is long hours but the pay is definitely worth it. He started out at 21$ per hour a year and a half ago to now 26$ an hour... which is great. He works fracking as a fluid tech. What kind of schedule will your s/o be working? Will you guys be moving up with him right away?

Hi! My SO got hired today with Baker Hughs. We are from VA, but are looking at buying a house in Montana about 45 minutes from the oil field. How does your husband like it? What does he do? Mine is a driver. I know the hours are long and hard, but is the pay what they say it is?

Thanks!
