My husband is snubber and gets up at 430 every morning and works until about 8 at night. If your from southwest Wyoming you probably the know the famous Highway 191. My husband drives on that every day for 2 hours twice a day to get to location. We have a 8 month old son and most of the time he doesnt even get to see him because he is already in bed at night. My husband works alot of days. Sometimes he works over 2 weeks straight and then gets 2 or 3 days off. And we never know when this happens until he comes home and says he has the day off and then waits for a call the other 1 or 2 days. Im courious to see what kind of schedules your hubby's have.

Schedule? What schedule? He told me it was supposed to be 3 weeks on and one week off. Sometimes it is one week on, and two days off or 6 weeks on and one day off. Or one month on and two weeks off. We have no schedule, and it drives me batty!

My hubby's a pipeline welder. He's gone half the year and home half the year. Except last year, when the bottom fell out big time....he was home almost all year. Like having him home, but it got tough when our savings started running out. It's hard, but it fits us....the kiddos and I love doing things with him at home and we love visiting him wherever he is. On the downside, we also have a small ranch and there are times of the year I can't leave (like during the winter). So if he's far away, we only see him once every six to eight weeks. That gets old fast!

My husband is about the same as yours, Lindsay. He's up at 4:30 am, and then not home til 8pm. He does have most weekends off though. He is working at a place that doesn't drill all the time- so he maintains alot of wells and hauls alot of water right now. He's looking into working on an offshore rig. We are in KY now, so that would mean him leaving us at home to go work, or us moving. I'm not real fond of either of those options. But, @ the place he works now, he has NO benefits, and the pay is pretty low.

My husband is a directional driller and has been gone for 76 days now! When he finally does get to come home it will only be for a day or two and then who knows when he will be back. We have 3 kids ages 12, 10 and 5 and my husband has been in the oilfield for 13 years. Up until a year ago I would have said he made great money but after being laid off for 6 months he was rehired for only half the pay... Still more than the average person makes but not great for how much he is gone. We take mini trips all the time to have lunch or dinner with him. Occasionally he skips sleep so we can spend more time with him. It sucks but we learned in the 6 months he was off there's not much else that pays the bills so we just do what we have to do!

Oh I completley understand.. It's hard. It really is.. we are in an arguement right now.. I am upset bc My husband to spend as much time with our 8 month old as I think he should. He leaves for work at 2 in the afternoon and doesnt get home until around 12 in the morning. He then sleeps until at least 11 or so. By 11 our son is down for his morning nap.. then has to get in the shower and go to work... he works every other weekend, except these past couple of weeks he has had to work every weekend.. so he hasnt had a day off and he is very irritable! It sucks... It really bothers me, but what can you do when they are the providers for the family..

15 years under our belt - most of the time now he is on the office. Last night worked till 11pm at home. Once a month travels away for a week. Much better than it use to be when he was gone for 21 days a month
