I want to get a vote on this, I was thinking about making this group private. Of course new moms would be allowed to join but they would just have to be approved. I just know that some of us share some pretty personal things on here and its open for anyone to read. I think some of us might feel more comfortable sharing if they knew the info was kept between this group. I just wanted to see what the group census is!

i totally agree! thank you for letting me join.. I am very glad this is a private group, only my husband, dr, and one close friend knows about my PPD, and i would like to keep it that way.

Thank you!!

Thanks for doing this and making the group private. I've been very outspoken about PPD now that I'm a member of this special club (not sure what else to call us PPD sufferers/survivors) and I appreciate the privacy. I also know that speaking out to other people and helping educate others about PPD will help bring more understanding to this illness and more people will be able to get help.

I think that is a good idea. Women who have not experienced depression can be very judgemental. Especially those who don't have children yet!!

Wendy you have a point but it is still difficult when you are in the early stages and sometimes people just DONT understand. Valid point but i agree- private

i agree that privacy is important so everyone feels safe enough to share. and i also agree that the stigma surrounding this issue needs to be squashed. its hard, but its important to speak up. there is nothing "wrong" with us! we are great mamas!

so yeah, i vote private. but i hope in our real lives, we can help erase the myths.

I agree-private-but, I struggle with that because, were it not for the very stigma that we are all succumbing to, more women would be comfortable being open about this and I don't want to be feeding the stigma of shame by privating the group-PPD is nothing to be ashamed of-on the other hand, it may be discouraging some people to share or to be completely honest...and then again, it may be encouraging for someone to join by reading our posting...I don't know...from a PERSONAL perspective, I think I'd prefer private.

Ok from what I asked anyone can see what this board is about but can not read the threads unless they are approved or invited but anyone in the group. I left that open in case anyone wanted to invite anyone!

We might get as many new moms, but I think our privacy is very important!

I vote private but would want to be sure there is some type of wording that explains that it is open but due to privacy issues, blah, blah, blah - etc... That's my 2 cents.
