My little one was born on Dec 31,08. WIth Chrstmas so close and new years the next day what do you do for a 1st birthday party?

My son turned 1 this past dec 28th, and although we have a large extended family and everybody shares parties, there was still the financial implications. We did a small thing with family, a birthday apple pie (alergic to eggs), and pictures, exactly one month after his birthday. Other ideas are to plan ahead and have the birthday before all the festivities start, maybe early November, or do a half-birthday in June/July! Hope this helps!

Glad to hear I was not the only one! I am thinking the same for 2nd birthday. I do feel like I goofed with the first one, but I was just dragged out, exhausted. Hopefully, I'll be more mentally prepared to deal with "one more party" (that's all I could think this past December).

I had the same question...my daughter was born on the 29th. I do know that I'm not having any more Dec. babies!!! Way too much going on--not fair to the kids either! So, we'll see about the 2nd bday--hopefully we can figure something out after all the festivities are over--maybe have her party beginning-middle of Jan?? We'll see!
