Looking to Meet Other Moms In Millwoods.

hi I just moved to Edmonton 2 months ago and im finding it hard to meet other mums as well. I'm 24 and my daughter is 22months old, we live in capilano area. Most moms already have their own "clicks" and I would like my daughter to socialise with other children. Does anyone have ay suggestions? thanks :)

I live in Millwoods and am looking to socialize my little boy who is almost 2. Does anyone have a playgroup going or a walking group? I live in Kiniski Gardens.

I've also been thinking of taking him to the play area in the Millwoods Rec Centre. Has anyone gone there?

Hi my family and I moved to Edmonton Millwoods area from Nova Scotia. We do not know anyone in this neighbourhood and I am wondering if there are any playgroups around? I have a 6 yr old and and a 2 yr old and would like to put him in a playgroup to socialize him with other children his age and for me to meet some other moms!!

I'm a sahm as well of a 5 yr old girl and 2.5 yr old boy. And would love to be able to meet with other moms with young children in the area as well. My son isn't adjusting to his sister going to school yet, and rarely naps anymore. I'm in the Minchau area of Millwoods, but I also drive. Husband is only home on weekends. Though I'm not a young mom, I do have a could of 18 yr olds as well. Hoping to meet some people here as we moved to Edmonton 5 months ago. And I'll admit it's getting pretty lonely. Wow, I can't believe how long it's been since I posted on here. My daughter is going on 10 mths now and I will be going back to work part time in January but would love to meet other moms.

Rebecca what times is your daughter in school, if it's not during my daughter's nap times maybe we could get together.

I'm also looking in to signing up for a parents and tots swimming class for oct or nov if any one else is interested. We took one over the summer and had a really good time.

Hey guys!  Sorry I haven't responded yet!  It's been a crazy few weeks since I posted this thread!! 

Karen, I'm just south of you, Knottwood Road East and Millwoods Road. 

I also thought I'd post this link for you guys to check out.  Glad to hear you are getting back into the swing of things.  It can be really tough when you have a new baby.  I was very housebound last year.  Not my best idea ever...And we definitely love dogs...well I do.  My daughter is learning to adjust to animals.  We had to put our own dog down shortly before I found out I was pregnant with her.  So she's never lived with pets.  We did go north to visit family this year and between my in-laws cat and my dad and step moms two dogs (one huge) she was sort of thrown into the fire, and thankfully, with positive results.  But we can definitely meet up in the near future once the weather gets nicer. 

Chelsea - is your little guy crawling or anything?  Millwoods Town Center has a neat little play area for the kids.  I take my two there all the time once the baby was moving.  It's been nice, just to get them out even if it's only for a little bit.  :) 

www.mwfrc.com is a great site.  They have some playgroups in our area for birth to five.  Unfortunately for me, the Thursday playgroup at the Knottwood site conflicts with a prior engagement on Thursdays, but I would go there for sure if I had the chance.  It's directly across the street from the7 Eleven on Millwoods South and beside St. Clement School.  It's in a condo complex.  I haven't been to the Millhurst site yet, but have been considering it!  The other groups don't pertain to me unfortunately because my son is four.  The three year age gap causes a bit of issue for us.  There's not alot of programs for our ages.  Most are birth to three...Logan will be five in April!!  But with Logan's going to school in the fall, we will be attending more playgroups in our area, keeping close to get Lo after school!!

Also, my husband's job situation has changed and we're not sure of his schedule anymore, which sort of sucks.  It could be as many as 18 days out, 3 days in, or 2 weeks out, 1 week in.  It's up in the air, so we are on tenterhooks waiting for schedules.  So things are a bit wacky for us right now!

Anyway guys...even if we never meet, I sure hope that you guys can find people near to you as well!!  Take care and good luck with your little ones!  After five years of mommyhood I can honestly say that the best is yet to come!!

Chelsea, we must live very close to each other. I often walk my dog on the hill that runs along 91st  between 28 and 23 ave as we are so close to it. Are you a stay at home mom or are you working?

HI Shevaun, I'm a new mom, my daughter is just 2 months old and we're in Millwoods, just of 28th ave and lakewood road. I'm slowly starting to get into the swing of things but I love to take my dog for walks at the parks and never have anyone to go with. My husband is not the dog walking type. If you don't mind dogs we could get together when it gets nicer out.  Just a thought.
