Can someone please explain to me about the music in the churches? Why do we not sing out of song books any more? What happened to the old songs? The music that we sing now is okay, but I love the old songs, they were so heart-felt. Now, I have heard that some churches have praise dancers on the platform. What is up with this? I ask this because I backslid for a long time and I am trying to get where I need and want to be with God, I just don't understand. Does anyone know?

Mrs. Fairchild -- If you do some research, you will find that the old hymns written and sung were actually bar tunes in the local pubs that had spiritual lyrics written to them! They were taking culturally relevant melodies that were known at that time and putting Christian/spiritual lyrics to them. It is all about being culturally relevant! So the praise songs that you hear today are more written after similar melodies that you would hear on the radio with Christian lyrics. We tend to get stuck on old traditions and methods for tradition sake, as if there is something inherently spiritual about just those old hymns, than focusing on the principles! Methods change but the message never does!

I also recommend getting yourself a used hymnal online, and get your self back into those real spiritual songs & hymns for the LORD!

My family uses ours all the time, and its a blessing to be able to open your mouth and give him praise that pleases him.

Girl! you are right to feel weird about it, Its total, TOTAL apostasy and you should steer well clear of this. The Bible tells us everything we need to know about having a BIBLICAL and correct worship service.

But its beyond just loosey- goosey doctrine, its actually Satan trying to destroy us through one of his slickest tools, music. Does not the bible tell us he was the best musician in heaven?

I recommend watching this documentary on the subject,

The Occult in Christian Music - By Pastor Michael Hoggard

You can watch it free online here: in 8 parts
