Do you Ladies find yourself having trouble dealing with your anger in a healthy way?? Sometimes I get so mad at my four year old that I scare myself. I never use to be like this but ever since I have been clean and trying to raise my daughter on my own I find that sometimes I can get so angry and for the stupidest things too. How do you cope with these feelings??

I've tried a few different things. I take a time-out for myself. I tell her I am getting upset or that I am feeling angry and I need a time-out to calm down. Then I will just go sit somewhere to get a few deep breaths.
Another tactic is to picture my child when she was an infant, sweet and helpless. Or I remember how I felt before or after she had a major surgery and how in those moments I realized how much she meant to me and how much it would have hurt to lose her. Also, the anger seems to be an indication that I am needing more time for myself or more time to connect with other moms or even check in with a counselor or a 12 step meeting. Sometimes it's also a sleep thing. I also found a website called Noble Mother that had a twelve days to stop yelling page. This helped a lot on the days that I was able to get online. There's a lot of good suggestions there and they also suggest journaling.
