Depressed about taking time off from school.

well let me tell you if you want to go back you WILL go back. right now it seems your family needs you and it is okay to take time away from school. I have started and stopped many times mostly because we have moved due to my husbands job. I can't begin to tell you how many credits have been lost along the way. since you are so close to finishing i can understand the frustration but don't worry you WILL finish :)

hi, i know how disappointing you must be feeling , but you know you can always go back it is not the end.. i mean when i got married i gave up my course. i mean i left after two years of a degree instead of doing the final year. they gave me a certificate but still i was really depressed over it.. Now i am doing online courses which is much better for me, as i have two children and child care is so expensive here. You should find out from the college, if you can do one /two classes a week, or if any other university has the same course but distance learning, i am sure you will find something..

I have actually taken some online classes. There is only so many that can be taken that way. I am so close to being done its ridiculous. My August grad will be pushed to Sept or later depending on when i get to go back. Its going to be okay though. The kids are so much happier and relaxed since I am home and not pressured for time to finish homework. I could curl up with my girls last night and watch a movie and I havent been able to do that in so long. It was wonderful. Trying to just keep faith that I will finish eventually but they wont be little forever.

Is there any way you can do online classes or maybe a class that meets once a week? I'm going to study this summer on my own and try to test out of a class. I can understand a little how you feel. When I had our son I cut my school hours down to the bare minimum because I was needed more at home. I thought by doing that I would NEVER finish. Life is crazy now since I'm taking 7 classes and working, but I enjoyed that time to relax. Even if it was only for awhile. So if you HAVE to stay home, just make the most out of it.

Thanks for the advice. I just dont want to not go back and I think that is alot of my fear. But your right it will still be there. I put it on hold for so many years and have finally got back and Im putting it on hold again. Its just frustrating. Thank you for the encouragment.

You are probably concerned that you won't return to school. I took time off from my MA when I was pregnant with my son and had no regrets. When the time was right I returned to school with no hesitations and was more focused than I would have been if I kept going. I have now taken time off from my PhD since I am pregnant with my second child and I know I will return when the time is right. Give yourself a break and take care of your family. I promise you school will still be there, and when the dust settles you will return because it is one of your dreams and goal. Hope this helped. Good luck and remember to pray.
