I'm the proud mother of a 17 month old little boy. When I came to college at the ripe old age of 18, I was not planning on getting married, much less having a son, but I met a professor that I feel in love with and we ended up getting married in my third year of school. He was 35 at the time and ready to be a father. He had no children previously and had never even been married, so we decided to have a baby. I had plenty of confidence that I could juggle having a baby and going to school and he already had a good job. So, I took a semester off and had our son and suprisingly enough, I'm still juggling school and having a baby, and even though it's difficult, my grades have not really suffered that much. I'm an English major (non-education) and I love to write, especially poetry (I'm a little long winded). I'm also a slow reader, which doesn't help in my literature classes, but I love what I'm doing. I love being a mother, I love my husband and son, I love writing, and I love my classes and the people that I work with every day. It's been a bumpy road, but it's also been well worth the ride, so now I'm a 22 year old mother, wife, and student, and I thank God every day that I have a life that I find very fulfilling. So, now that you've met me, I'd like to know your story. :)

I'm a graduate student going for my M.Ed. in English Education, myself (concentration in secondary education and teaching writing), and have a six month old, as well. My B.A. is in Film Studies, concentrating on Critical Studies, so in a way it's an English major in a particular medium. :-)

I started college as a social work major but after becoming pregnant and taking a year off from classes, I realized that English is my passion.  I'm now in my junior year (I'm 21 now) and my daughter is 2. It definitely is a struggle to balance life as a wife, mom, writer (I have a blog I maintain to satisfy my writing crave), and a student.

Good for you to keep going! Thanks for sharing your story :-)

I've been an English major before and was going English education but my degree is in psychology, but English is my passion.  I'm currently a graduate counseling student, but I write all the time, and have semi-self published a book of poetry through Publish America.  I say semi because I didn't have to pay but they aren't much more than a vanity press, but hey its hard to get poetry published so I'm proud of it nonetheless.  :)

I am a graduate student and the mother of four girls. I have a BA in English (non-education) and I also write poetry. I won my university's poetry prize in 2005 and have published four poems in their literary journal. I am now getting my Master's in English. I only had one girl when I got my BA and that was hard enough. Now I have her and she's eight plus two-year-old twins and an almost three month old. It is tough to find the time to read much less write.
