I started taking online classes in May 2009 and will be receiving my second degree in less than 2 weeks! i wanted to go back to school, but knew that physically attending classes and taking care of 3 boys would be next to impossible. It's funny how things have worked out. When I got my first degree, I was pregnant with my first son...now, I'm getting my second degree and pregnant with my first daughter! My boyfriend and my sons have been very supportive of me and will be there in Sept. when I attend the graduation ceremony...only difference this time? all my kids will be born by then! lol! When I graduated the first time, my son wasn't due until Nov. This time, my daughter is due within a couple of weeks of my finishing classes :s Now, the big debate is whether to go on for my Master's or start another degree!

I just started online college about three weeks ago. It was tough but my daughter is now learning to allow me to be able to do my online work and entertain herself while I do so. This is a wonderful idea b/c I could not afford to pay for daycare.

I am trying to go to college for Medical Billing and Coding but now I am having second thoughts because I've had people tell me that employers want 2 years experience. I'm wondering if I should put in the time and effort. Have you heard anyhting about UMA online or AIU? If so let me know, it would be nice to get some reassurance about the whole process.

It's good to hear this. I'm currently in a Respiratory Therapy program that is very demanding of my time. I go 5 days a week, 4 hours a day.. straight for 22 months with a week break every semester (and winter break, too). It's been very stressful up to now, as I'm finishing my second semester. We had a few online college reps come and talk to us about continuing education afterwards and, as much as I'd love to get my Bachelor's in RT, I was reluctant of going back to school after this! I'm finishing next summer, so I still have time to think about it.. but hearing that online classes are working out for you gives me a little hope. :)

I am getting all my paper work and financial aid to return to online couses next month. I am very excirted. I am a stay at home Mom of four children ages 2 1/2 to 9. I am hoping to get my teaching certificate in a few years. Kudoos to all you Mom's!

I went back for my master's in May of 07 and finished in Aug 08 for Education. My classes were online. It was hard but I was able to work a full time job, work mostly 6 days a week. The online classes were great since I was able to work around my schedule for myself and my child. My last class on was Aug 17, 2008 and started a new master's program on the 18th for teaching but this time on campus. I had to quit my job but I am almost finished with only 2 more classes to go. I wouldn't change any of it for the world. My son has really looks up to me and very proud. I wish all that are working and mothering the best of luck in your future education..Go for it!

I am working on my Masters in Organizational Leadership, at Ashford University. My girls are older than most of your children,however till last October I was also working. I will finish in November,but after the first of the year I am will be hopefully starting my second Masters.

I'm doing the same thing. Taking online classes is great for me because I don't have to worry about not being home with the kids. I was afraid of the idea of online classes but this semester I'm going to do the same I love it.

I have been at home since Feb 08 and decided to go back to school. I am enrolled f/t @ Kaplan in the online program and I absolutely love it. If I need to be out for a long period I can just take my laptop and still get my studies done. I know in my hear that this is what I needed in order to complete my degree. I really can't stand brick and mortar school!

I had problems taking online classes. It was so easy for me to lose my focus while taking care of my son, Sam. I don't know if maybe I was just doing something wrong with that or not, but my grades have definitely improved since I started taking all my classes on campus. It's just so much more difficult to get a babysitter, whether it be my mom or sister, though both are really supportive.

I just finished my first semester of online classes and I am so excited. It was pretty stressful at first but I am getting used to it. The classes I was taking I hated and they are pretty hard but now I am done with that part and moving on to the easier stuff.... LOL anyways it's nice to know that I am working toward a career where I can work at home and spend every waking minute with the loves of my life...

I just got my Associates degree in business 2 weeks ago from an online college. Let me say, if it weren't from online school, I probably would not have my degree right now! I usually did my school work after the kids went to bed ( I have four). It was great because I didn't have to pay a sitter or daycare, and it didn't take any time away from my children. I could still volunteer at their school classrooms for parties and such, and I still put them to bed at night, and I was there when they woke up! I am now going for my Bachelors in business, and all the same applies. I am so thankful for the internet it isn't even funny! lol! My only concern is, when my school is all said and done, and it is time for me to get a job, will my kids be able to adjust? They will be older, and I am hoping the transition won't be too much. Until then, online school is awesome!

I started back to school recently and I find that the online classes are indeed a blessing. It takes alot of discipline to set aside time just to study and do my homework. I am a divorced mother of a six year old and a eight year old and I work full time. I am trying to develop that discipline so that I can complete my Bachelors Degree in Christian Studies. I pray for much success for myself as well as all the other Moms.

I have been going to school online for many years now and absolutely love it. I can stay at home with my son and do things that need to be done here and go to school at the same time. I love the fact that I can take my son to school with me.. hehe

I've been at an online college since august 2007, and I am supposed to graduate in January (fingers crossed). It really is a good experience for me, and it gives me lots of time for my children. A suggestion for Cidalia, some online colleges offer scholarships, as well as let you get student loans to help pay for it. That's the way I've been going to school, and it does ease my worries that I'll be able to get a job (Hopefully!) before my student loans are supposed to be paid on.

I also study online through athabasca university here in canada. I have 2 kids, 5 and 1 and I run a home daycare. my husband is doing a masters at the local university and I am finding it hard to remember to study. I feel with kids, work and house cleaning, laundry ect I just can never find the time or remember to study. I really want my double major (history and psych) but I am finding that I am struggling so much. any advice?

I am currently a SAHM but only because i lost my job 3 weeks ago. I am trying to get another job because we really need 2 incomes in the household. At least for now my soon to be step son can stay at home with the kids when i go back to work. When he goes back to school. We may have to find a sitter. But im sure we will be able to manage so that I continue my education.
I will start classes next month for my Associates in Medical Billing and Coding. I am little nervous about it though. I was, and I still am excited but i seem to be losing my motivation already. I guess I am worried about failing and getting a loan(along with my grant) for nothing. Yet I know i want to take advantage of this. I need to make more money and this is the way to go.

I doing my class's on line as well. I will gradutate next July in early childhood education. I will be able to start this winter teaching as a paraprofesional. I start this fall with a job at a co op for home schooled kids teaching art to K-3. I am really excited. I find that if I wait till my 3 are in bed to do my work then it is much easer and I do not take time from them. The other good thing is as long as I am not in a middle of a class but between with the University of Phoenix I can take a break with my kids, like now my 9 year old is having surgrey this Wensday so I took 3 weeks off to be with her. I could not do that by going to campus.

I just started my second semester of online classes. I have a four year old and two year old. I do find it sometimes hard to find time to study. But it is worth it. I love being able to be at home with the kids and get my degree. My son will start school in August.So I decided it was time for me to do something for me. That when the kids are in school I will be completely lost. Good Luck to all the Mommies.

I'm going back hopefully this summer quarter with the local community college. I need to get some pre-rec's done before applying for the physical therapy assistant program. I planned to take some online, like Composition, Psychology, College Algebra, Medical Terminology 1&2, etc. I'm just re-thinking the PTA program now that I found out some clinicals at the end are not in my city. I may have to travel and I have 2 kids (and my husband drives a truck so he's gone 5 days/nights a week). Who knows what I'm going to do, but I am going back this summer so I better figure it out!

I enrolled in online classes this past semester as well. While its been great, I do feel like I am missing out on valuable instruction. So come fall, I am going on campus.

I'm taking 2 more courses this summer then that will be it for me for online schooling.

I have been taking online courses since August and LOVE it! When I started I was balancing school, full-time job, a son and a husband. It is very challenging but will be rewarding in the end. I am enrolled in the Post University Online Accelerated program pursuing my Bachelors degree in Business. The online experience is so convenient when you don't have the time to go to a classroom. I just lost my job and am among the unemployed so this it more of an incentive for me to keep plugging away at that degree!!! Kudos to all of you Moms continuing your education! I was looking into online college, but my problem is that I can't come up with the money for courses, there are no financial aid options where I am for online learning, and my only way to afford school is to actually go to a school. So right now, I'm looking at going to school (debating whether to go full-time or part-time) and working part-time. I'm fortunate that my in-laws watch my youngest one, but I still feel guilty about asking them to watch him some more. :(

i also started to go back,., i am doing online courses from a distance learning school called stonebridge.. I love doing the online course. You can do the coursework in our own time. At the moment i cannot afford daycare. even though my hubby works, in Switzerland , daycare is so expensive here, so cannot afford it if i want to study more. another thing is all the courses are in German here.. Yeah it is really a great opportunity and great alternative. Good luck Caroline..

I"m having the worst time.I just started back and it just so hard for me to focus and get all my studying and assignments in. I'm taking 2 classes. 1 only and the other is partially online and at the campus... Btwn working full time and some times overtime and trying to keep up my gym membership at least 3 days a week and be a single parent.. I just don't be getting to bed until after 1 to have to get up at 6. I can't really focus on me until my daughter is down for the night which is about 9. So that gives me about 5 hours to study if I don't fall asleep trying to get it all done..

My online classes started as soon as I found out I was pregnant and it took me a while to find a school that offered online classes. The great thing about my classes is that I have 15 months to get all of the classes done. That has helped me alot because my son has been so sick latley and it took me a little while to adjust to being a mom. I would do it all over again. I have missed the adult conversations from time to time, but work wise this has been best for me.

I think online college is great for moms, I've been going to college online since May of last year through Kaplan University. I decided to try online because having three kids make it really hard. So far I'm my grades are near perfect and come next year I'll have my bachuler degree in Health and Wellness. Thank God

I went back to school a year and a half ago. I'm attending the Univeristy of Phoenix online and it is amazing. Hard but amazing. I get my degree in June and then on to my Bachelor's. I"m very excited about it. Working full time, raising a 4 and a 3 year old and running house plus adding school was not the easiest choice but both my husband and I are happy with our decisions.

I have been doing the same thing for 3 semesters now. I have had to attend some on campus because of my biological sciences (they have labs). But my campus time has been minimal and I choose the schedule that fits best with our home schedule so no babysitters yet. I've had 7 online classes total. I really enjoy them.

I've been saying it for years and I finally did it!! I enrolled in online classes. I start March 2nd. It is a wonderful tool for us moms to be able to go back to school onlne. I am looking forward to doing my classes and class work while my kids are in school!!

I also started back to school this past semester. I have a 3 1/2 year old boy and 9 month old twin boys. It's been a little difficult to try to find a good time to study, and not interfere w/ family life but I'm enjoying it......so far!!! It's "me" time. Time to kind of make me feel like an adult again. My hope is by the time the twins start school, I'll be able to be in nursing school full time!
