My 4 year old was diagnosed with ADHD about 1 year ago, and her doctor of course told me to think about trying out different medications so when it came time for her to go to school she would be ready. Living with ADHD and trying different medications my whole life with myself I knew what effects they really had on people and how they made me felt, I couldnt imagine putting one of my babies threw that unless I absolutly HAD to. So I started doing some research and I came across a company by the name of Advocare. Advocare is a premiere health and welness company that just celebrated their 20th anniversary. After digging deeper I found a article on a study that Texas Tech University had done on children with ADHD and Spark (sugar-free energy drink) that is suitable for children. After reading I ordered products for myself, and after falling in love with them I allowed Bailey to try them. Within a couple days of her drinking a Spark in the morning her teachers were asking me what I was doing, and what ever it was, it was working.

For anyone who would like a copy of this article please dont hesistate to email message me! I am now a distributor for Advocare and would be more than willing to help anyone out!

Thanks :)

My aunt just told me about Spark. I'm wondering if the V16 supplement works as well (which AdvoCare lists as safe for kids 12 and up)? I'm not opposed to giving my 11yo caffeine, but just wondering. Heck, the drugs are controlled substances, so I can't see how caffeine could be any worse.

My son is 13 and we have taken him off of ADHD meds for the Summer. In 5 weeks he gained 16 lbs...........so I KNOW the meds are stunting his growth and development. How often would he take the Spark to get through school and then football or baseball games after school? My email is redsinger73@yahoo.com

Thanks so much!
I do know that AdvoCare just yesterday raised the official age recommendation to 18 because of the caffeine factor. However I have given it to my 3 yr old and it does calm her down. My son is 17 and he is able to focus .. oh how I wish I knew about AdvoCare and Spark 9 yrs ago!

I have searched everywhere for this study. There are tons of references to it but links to the actual study that I've found in blogs do not work. This makes me very skeptical. If anyone has an actual copy, please post. Thank you.

Hi Denise. I just tried Spark for my child upon recommendation from a friend. He came home saying that he felt great, could think more clearly, was less distracted. I'm very hopeful but want to talk I his doctor about it. Can you email me the article? I would be very grateful. Thank you!

Hello! I am on the journey to find an alternative to the ADD medications myself. I have tried a couple medicines with my son, which has been a task in itself. It is difficult to see your child struggle with the challenges of adapting to different medicine to help them control their symptoms. I have talked to other moms and I hear a lot of horror stories! It seems that if the child does respond it isn't always something that will last. I had read that high fructose corn syrup, red dyes and a lack of key B vitamins could be the root of the cause.
I myself started using Advocare and feel amazing! I started thinking about what I had read about ADD in the past and what I could do in his diet to change things for him in a healthy way. So, I am awaiting the summer to start him on a regimen to see what we can do to get him ready for school this fall without any CONTROLLED SUBSTANCES to keep him focused on his tasks at hand!
I would love to have a copy of that article to take with me to his doctor visit when we talk about making the switch!!
I can be reached at advoshannon@yahoo.com
Thank you for your time and hope into something more natural for my children!

How long has your daughter been taking the product and how much do you give her? I'm looking into giving it to my son, but am curious about the dosage.

Hi, my name is Virginia and my 7 year old was diagnosed with ADHD last year. I also have not medicated him based on what other people have told me and what I have read about the side effects. But, lately his hyper-ness and inability to focus have gotten worse. I am always asking parents for advice but kept getting the same responses; "he probably needs meds" or "He'll grow out of it". I felt so helpless and I didn't want to just sit back and watch my sons behavior decline. So, I finally asked my husband to get involved and ask some of his co-workers, who are teachers, if they have kids of their own who have ADHD, and if so, how do they help them. He asked one teacher and she recommended Spark Energy Drink which she gives to her 12 year old. I started to research it and came across Texas Techs research and other testimonials and I am convinced I want to try it. I just have a few questions:
1. You said you give it to your 4 year old, is there Spark for kids under 12? I noticed recommended age is 12 and up. If not, how much do you give her?
2. Have you seen any side effects in her?
3. Where can we buy Spark?
My email is vlcarrillo90@gmail.com

I just started my 12 year old son on Advocare Spark. I am truly hoping to see the same effects as what the Ritalin was doing for him. I have hated using ADHD meds on my baby.

I have been searching for that article and cannot find it. Would you please email me the article at acogdill09@gmail.com? I appreciate it.

This is news to me as I am an Advocare Distributor and I haven't heard of this until I recently started researching alternative treatment for ADD. Our 10 year old daughter was tested, by a child psychologist, for ADD last year and the results were "below the line" to consider her a child with Attention Disorder.

This year, due to academic and home struggles, we requested that the school do additional testing and we received the results yesterday. She has several traits/characteristics of ADD, but not enough to be considered for "special" services, but there is another way to communicate with different teachers about her learning style and certain things that they can do to help her. Either way, we are running out of options and need to try something to help her be able to stay focused.

We have an appointment scheduled with her pediatrician in a couple of weeks. I would like to bring a copy of this study to the appointment to see if it would be okay to try that before meds. Another product, IntelliQ, is what I like to take with my Spark to help me stay focused and mentally strong. I would like to see if my daughter can take that as well.
