I am the mother of a 23 year old son who was diagnosed with ADHD at the age of 4.I live in Lafayette, Indiana and we are trying to start a parent advocacy group to teach people how to advocate for their children in school. As you all know, schools don;t cater to the needs of these kids, the kids are expected to fit into their mold. I was wondering if anyone has anything like this in their city or if anyone close enough to Lafayette would be interested in participating in this group.

My son is 4. We moved to Lafayette about 4 months ago. He has both ADHD and SPD (Sensory Processing Disorder) He was attending daycare/preschool at Wabash Kids Connection on Greenbush but they have closed. He really struggles with large class size of 22 kids…We've dealt with 2 places that can't/won't really deal with his issues and are in need of finding a new daycare/preschool within a week. I found your post by Googling preschool for kids with ADHD in Lafayette IN. Do you have any advice or ideas where we can turn? GLASS has not been much help - they say because he is well above average intelligence (despite his diagnosis of SPD, ADHD and possibly some other issues) they can't qualify him for services….despite how obvious it is that he has issues that should qualify for the "All other Health problems" category for their services…. Help? Ideas? Advice?? We were from IL previously and services there were super easy to obtain and were being provided. Everything here has been super difficult so far, and changing schools a few times has really exacerbated his issues. Any ideas?

I wish we did. I live in California, and teachers and schools are not understanding at all. In my school all the teachers gossip about the parents with kids like mine; it is a very uncomfortable situation, and exhausting.
