Anyone has a child with ADHD who is on Focalin XR and Intuniv at the same time? If yes, Please let me know how has it helped your child and any side effects?

Hi, I know it's been awhile since you posted this but just wondering how you child is doing with the Focalin XR and Intuniv combo. My 10 year old son has been taking Intuniv and will be starting Focalin XR.

Hi my son has been on focalin xr since march! hes 6 and the focalin has been amazing but like karen had said gaining weight is the biggest problem. he was put on intuniv by may and that helped increase his appetite as it is a non stimulant. we need to adjust his dosage but i too agree they compliment each other alot. the only side effects is sleepiness with intuniv (but only when he started it) and the eating/gaining weight. also keep your child hydrated with any adhd meds the dehydrate easily :)

That is true. My son was already on clonidine to help with going to sleep and it helps with the ADHD. So we added the intuniv as well, morning just happened to work better for us since the nights were ok. Hope you are finding things working. Good luck.

Thank you this was very helpful. The Doctor suggested I give her Intuniv at night he said because it will make her sleepy.

My son has been on focalin xr for three years. Biggest side effect is that he doesn't gain weight. It has been the best for his ADHD though, he tried many different meds before this one. We added Intuniv last August. It has been great for him. He has anxiety as well as the ADHD and it has helped alot. He is able to express himself better than ever before while taking it. Initially he took it at night but we found he did better with it in the morning.
