Daytrana patch/ADHD med question

Yes...my son wet the bed at night when on other meds for ADHD. He has not done this with Daytrana but he did with intuniv. I think they all effect each individual child differently but I do know that bed wetting was an issue at night with my son while on some of these meds.

wow,i see that the patch actually helps most of you'lls children.. i have a 16 yr old & we tried the patch when he was 10 & it was the worst nightmare ever. He acted like he had nothing in his system. i keep wondering about Vyvance tho'. No bathroom issues ever with the adhd med's. he has more anxiety (when he is nervous), he can have ibs symptoms. he's on adderall, clondine, & prozac durin the day & risperdel at nite so he can sleep.

Hi My son has been using the patch for a year and never any issues with accidents, this is the first I have ever heard of it. The patch has transformed my son along with all of us and the work we put in. I hope it changes for him so he can stay on it. Is he drinking more from dry mouth? Still doesn't seem right though.

My son is 10 and was diagnosed with adhd when he was 8. We have tried many medications, but had difficulty because he cannot swallow pills easily. we have used the daytrana patch, vyvance, concerta, and one other one, but i cant remember the name of it, but when he took it totally knocked him out. He slept the whole day. In my expreience with so many meds, the daytrana parch has worked the best, with the least side effects. I have never had a problem with "accidents" thank goodness. I have ne ver heard of anyone having that happen.

my son couldnt take focalin because it caused halucinations, lost 10 lbs and wasnt sleeping. That scared me so much we decided not to put him on anything for a while. We just started the Daytrana patch. It seems to be working well with no side effects except this peeing problem. Ive been looking online and have found some people saying that stimulant meds do cause more frequent urination. It hasnt happened since and Ive told him to make sure he goes AS SOON as he has to and not to try to hold it even for a few min. Hopefully this is our biggest and only prob. Thanks for the input ladies :)

It works well with him..He eats alot better with the foclin and it starts working 15 to 20 minutes after we give it to him instead of an hour with the patch but it (foclin) also seems to wear off around 5pm were as the patch lasted untill 7pm. But for him it has been fine

My son was on the patch for 2 yrs and never had an accident like that from the meds....We changed to foclin last year because my son who is 13 requested no patch because it irritated his skin where the patch was

Both my daughters had accidents up until they were on dosages of meds that worked.. they were always so distracted from the ADHD, they didn't want to take the time out it took to go potty... over time, it fixed itself... they wet the bed until they were 7 1/2, and had accidents off and on up til then too... As my doctor and step-dad who is a doctor kept telling me "Have you ever seen anyone go to the prom in a diaper?".. that always eased my mind!!

My son is on Daytrana 10Mg also for two plus years now, we have not had a problem like that, just the appetite issue. Maybe he was so focused on something (from the stimulant effect) that he hadn't gone to the bathroom in a while or something and it came on him suddenly. Just a guess. Maybe it is his body adjusting to the med. I wouldn't give up just yet.

My son was on a "bathroom schedule" at school, as well. It seemed to help him. This fall we decided to send him to a private school where there are only nine other children in his classroom...the individual attention he receives, now, has worked wonders!

My 7 year old is on the Daytrona Patch! I love it! He can actually focus in school. I blame the accidents on him being a boy. He has accidents at night but his sleeping meds really put him into a deep sleep. At school he has a restroom break every two hours and the accidents have really decreased. The benefits weigh more than the accidents.

My son is 8 years old, and has been on the Daytrana patch since he was 6. He has had several accidents at home and at school. From what i've read, the medication allows them to focus so well that they don't focus on other things...ie..when they need to use the restroom. Other than that..I have to say that Daytrana has changed his life in so many beneficial ways. Good luck with everything. :)

My daughter was on the patch and is now on vyvanse and I haven't had any problems like that
