Any advice/suggestions. It seems rather overwhelming.

My son is on a gf/cf diet and it seems to have made a big difference. He also takes fish oil and takes Epsom salt baths which his doctor recommended. He is 6 hrs old, his teacher said he notices a big change in him. He also takes a supplement called focus factor.
The gf/cf diet is difficult at first, but gets easier once you're used to it. He doesn't like almond milk, but will drink it in a smoothie with fruit. Udi's bread is the best tasting gf bread.
I send gluten free cookies to school so he will have a treat when there are birthday cupcakes in class.
I put the fish oil in juice and he doesn't mind it at all.

Buy this cookbook: the healthy gluten free life. Throw out all foods with dairy & gluten. Stock up on rice, quinoa, gluten free pasta, gluten free cereal, coconut milk, almond milk, gluten free lunch meat. There are several blogs out there as well. We have been gfcf for 6 months now and it is worth it. For me what I has really helped is having the food on hand &. A plan. My daughter eats gfcf toast with earth balance spread and bacon and o.j. For breakfast. Lunch is usually ham or turkey, apple sauce, piece of fruit, cucumber, gfcf granola bar. After school she has rice noodles ( just like ramen only gf). For breading food I use crushed up potatoe chips. They make rice crispiies that are gf as well so you can make rice crispiies treats. The gf bread we like is udi's. If you buy cookbook it has recipes for everything and pictures. I made pizza, sweet potatoe muffins, and some other things and they were very tasty! I buy different things at different stores: Costco gfcf cookie dough, organic gfcf apple sauce, gf crackers. I went into big lots yesterday &. Got some discounted gf items. Bobs red mill sells lots of flours & pancake mix etc. I get coconut milk (doesn't have to be refrigerated until opened) at Walmart.

We have been gluten free and casein free for several months now. My daughter & I both had a lot of food sensitivities. It has really helped calm down my daughter and for me my complexion is perfect since dumping dairy. We love the coconut milk and I buy it at Walmart. For butter we get Earth Balance and for cheese daiya. I have also tried the ice creams and yogurts by so delicious & almond dreams. I even made almond cheese myself recently & it was very easy to make &. Tasted good!

Go to painstresscenter.com and click on the teen link supplement my son has been on it two months and totally off all prescribed medicine. (food for thought: Natural remedies aren't bad god put them here for a reason but you cannot patten them so therefore pharmaceutical companies have to make drugs to make a profit. I was against herbal until I ran across this and it works great. My son is happy, sleeping at night and can actually stay on task. We have also changed up discipline plans and everything has to be discussed and 100% analyzed before anything. Doing Great)

My son, who is now 33, did a complete turn around when I kept sugar and food additives. He was 16 when we also went to a clinic that specialized in natural treatment. After taking special vitimin/mineral compounds tailored for his needs, it help correct some of his problems. I just wish we started it when he was younger. Here is the internet address. http://www.hriptc.org/index.php

My son is 9 and has been medicated since he was in kindergarten. He started out on 18 mg of concerta and when I decided to take him off he was taking 73mg . He was skinny and looked terrible. I am doing alternate things such as no Red 40 and Yellow coloring. I give him a diet that is high in protein and give him fish oil and flax seed oil and a natural vitamin that has no red or yellow coloring.. He gained 11 pounds the first month he was off the medicine.. He looks great now and we still are learning, but he is doing ok for now.

Besides calcium I also give them Omega 3 (1000mg [yes, doc recommended it - but all I found was 700mg). All of the organic item's have a lot protein, the one's I have found so far. I make sure and read every single label before buying it.

We are doing the same thing. A couple of months ago I took my son off his meds and went cold turkey organic all of us it has been tough and we cave a little sometimes for sanity but I have noticed a huge change in our son I really believe it was what we were feeding him now we are also supplementing too. He is on a couple different supplements. So much happier!

We started going Organic this week. After reading "ADD/ADHD diet", it is scary that most of the food that we eat these days can trigger symptoms. Milk is a big factor for ADHDer, I stopped buying dairy products. We ordered a Jack Lalanne Juicer and we'll start making almond milk, smoothies, etc... We are still at the beginning, and I know how hard it is. Husband and I decided that the WHOLE family should go Organic, not just our son. It is also a benefit for all the other members, eating healthy and staying healthy.
